As the controversy surrounding Rep. Anthony Weiner‘s photographic Twitter scandal continues to swell, Mediaite Managing Editor Colby Hall appeared on WPIX New York’s News at Ten, with Jodi Applegate, to lend his own talking head to the proceedings. While most of the spot was devoted to placing the rampant speculation into context, Hall did make a few novel points, such as the possibility that the photograph in question was from a “prior relationship,” which would explain the Congressman’s current caginess, without the presumption of guilt that accompanies much of the current speculation.

The recent decision to return the controversial classic Huckleberry Finn to classrooms in a censored editor that removes the 219 instances of the n-word has garnered some outcry from both those who considering the editing detrimental to education and those who prefer the book not be taught at all. Mediaite Managing Editor Colby Hall visited WPIX to discuss what he calls a “dangerous precedent” for troublesome history.

Mediaite managing editor Colby Hall joined New York’s WPIX 11 News reporter Jodi Applegate to give his take on the Juan Williams/NPR firing-turned-media-war yesterday. While the controversy has stirred many emotions, if it can get Whoopi Goldberg and Bill O’Reilly to agree on something, Hall suggests, maybe it isn’t all bad.

Over the weekend, while watching the Mets-Yankees game on WPIX in New York, a promo for local TV newsman Larry Mendte ran – and it brought back all the memories of the reason he was fired from his Philly anchor gig.

For the past few months Mendte has been producing commentaries, and they’re amazing in their own unique Ron Burgundy way.

Today in local newsmen: New York newsman Vince DeMentri was relieved of his duties at WPIX Channel 11 yesterday in relation to an incident days before where DeMentri slapped a chauffeur in a fight over a parking space. DeMentri’s lawyer has called the accusation a sham (despite the chauffeur sporting a bloody lip) and plans to sue the station.

Nicole Pollozi is better known as “Snooki” from Jersey Shore, the hit reality show/trainwreck on MTV. As part of promoting their show (and cashing in on their 15 minutes) the cast members have been doing guest spots and cameos from Late Night to Local news. However, “celebrity” guests typically don’t get asked about whether or not he or she have a sex tape floating around, as is the case in the video below:
