Georgia Man Arrested in Plot to Attack White House With Explosives, Firearms

The FBI revealed on Wednesday that a man hatched a plan to attack the White House with a rocket.

According to U.S. Attorney Byung J. “BJay” Pak , Hasher Jallal Taheb, 21, of Cumming, GA was charged with attempting to destroy a federal building using fire or an explosion.

Law enforcement was tipped off to Taheb back in March after the tipster grew concerned that Taheb had been radicalized.

Then, in October, Taheb told a confidential FBI source that he planned to go abroad into Islamic State controlled land.

Lacking a passport, however, Taheb then decided to launch an attack closer to home.

At one point, according to the FBI agent’s affidavit, Taheb “explained that jihad was an obligation, that he wanted to do as much damage as possible, and that he expected to be a ‘martyr,’ meaning he expected to die during the attack.”

He also suggested staying inside the United States, he could do “more damage” than if he martyred himself abroad.

Taheb also showed signs of actually planning to carry out the attack, making a hand-drawn map of the West Wing and talking about plans to pick up weapons and drive to Washington DC via back roads to carry out the attack.

Then, on Wednesday, he met with what he believed was someone willing to trade his vehicle for assault rifles and explosive devices. The person he met with was actually a second FBI confidential source and Taheb was arrested at the scene.

“All potential threats have been neutralized and were under control from the inception of this case,” Pak said, about the plot after Taheb’s arrest.
