‘Aren’t You Ashamed?’ Tapper Gets Really Testy With Trump Spox

CNN’s Jake Tapper got pretty testy with a Donald Trump spokeswoman this afternoon over a direct smear on one of CNN’s own contributors from the Trump campaign and the Michelle Fields incident.

After speaking with Amanda Carpenter about a Trump adviser smearing her by pushing allegations she had an affair with Ted Cruz, Tapper confronted Sarah Huckabee Sanders (yes, she’s related to the Huckabee you’re thinking of) and confronted her about that smear.

He said, “I mean, at some point aren’t you just ashamed?”

She dismissively said the “entire process” is dirty. Tapper tried to hammer home the point that he’s talking about the Trump campaign specifically, but it didn’t really go anywhere.

They also clashed over the new Fields/Corey Lewandowski video, with Huckabee Sanders saying “I don’t think anything happened.” Tapper bewilderedly said that Lewandowski lied about not touching her and the campaign has engaged in a “smearing of her.”

Tapper ended the interview by saying, “I don’t think we’re getting anywhere here.”
