Blitzer Insists He ‘Did Not Express a View’ on Obamacare Mandate When He Said ‘Delay It for a Year’
CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer ignited a firestorm of controversy on Wednesday when he said that the Affordable Care Act’s insurance exchanges and the website which allows consumers to purchase insurance was so poorly designed that Democrats “should accept the device Republicans are giving them,” and “delay it for a year.” Blitzer later clarified that “context matters” and he did not express any opinion on the individual mandate in the ACA, only Healthcare.gov.

“If they had three years to get this ready—if they weren’t fully ready, they should accept the advice that a lot of Republicans are giving them, delay it another year, get it ready, and make sure it works,” Blitzer said on Wednesday.
“There are government health care-related websites that work great. Socialsecurity.gov, a whole bunch of others. They know how to do it,” he continued. “But if they didn’t get it ready on time, then maybe fix the problem, make sure people don’t have to worry about it.”
He corrected those who thought he was talking about the individual mandate which requires individuals to have insurance or pay a penalty.

But, the question is, how do the uninsured comply with the individual mandate if they cannot access the website to purchase insurance?
