CNN’s Poppy Harlow Faints On-Air in the Middle of Terrorism Report
While filling in for Carol Costello on CNN Newsroom, something rather odd happened to Poppy Harlow as she was presenting a report on American efforts against ISIS terror.
After a report from Becky Anderson, Harlow presented viewers with a CNN/ORC poll reflecting the disapproval Americans have shown for President Obama‘s efforts to deal with radical Islamists. As she explained the graphic, Harlow’s speech began to slur before she stopped altogether, and CNN soon cut away to a commercial.
Not long after this happened, numerous people took to Twitter to inquire as to what was going on:
CNN: Anchor Poppy Harlow trying 2 finish sentence; she slurred, yelling was heard on set; intense breath was heard & they went to a break.

When the show returned, the network aired a Brian Stelter report on the top 10 media stories of the year. When that concluded, the feed returned to Harlow, who explained that she passed out due to a hot flash.
“For all of you on Twitter asking if i’m okay, thank you so much,” Harlow said. “I got a little hot and I passed out for a moment. I am fine, we’re going to take a quick break. We’ll be right back.”
Harlow also put out a message to reassure her Twitter followers, and to express thanks to CNN for helping her out.
Thank you all for your concern and messages! I am ok! Passed out briefly and am with the doctor now. So thankful to our amazing CNN team.
