Jay Leno has been steadily “diminishing” himself with his snarly jokes at the expense of people who don’t deserve them. His originality is gone. He’s substituting a little glitz, but has basically decided (apparently) to just hang in as long as possible.

Compared to the old Jay, his show just stinks now.

Just a coincidence. When one wants to make a joke about comparing a bunch of criminals/hoodlums to something, i’m sure those Raider fan freaks outmatically pop up in your head.

Its like using me beloved Detroit Lions in a joke about perpetual losers. The two go hand-in-hand

Jay Leno should have stolen his gags from Eliot Spitzer. Since no one watches Spitzer, no one would have noticed.

Pretty generic joke.

I’ll take Levy over Leno. He’s much funnier and not so beholden to NBC.

I dont know if I agree that its a coincidence, because Leno’s wording and delivery was more clumsy. Clumsy enough to be intentionally worded differently from how it was originally told on red eye.

If this were just a coincidence, I think you would have seen a more direct punch line.

One of Leno’s writers must have heard the joke, felt it was right up Jay’s alley, and slightly reworded it. They must have figured no one watches red eye anyway.

Comedians stealing material has been going on since there were comedians. Leno still has a long way to go to be at the joke “borrowing” level of Dane Cook, Carlos Mencia and especially Milton Berle. And yes Jay is angrier than he use to be, which probably reflects American society as a whole at the moment.

I’ve never heard of this RedEye show before but if another comedian steals your joke, that’s a compliment.
This must be the show’s first “joke steal”.

Red-Eye’s humor is quicker and newer than either of the two, with both libs and conservatives. Take out the binki and give it a look. Maybe, it will be a substitute.

It’s technically impossible to steal a “joke” from red eye.

Jay stopped writing his jokes long ago. He probably has a staff of thirty joke lefty joke writers. During the Bush years he probably had a staff of sixty.

Joke stealing was just one reason why Howard Stern said he won’t go on Leno anymore.

The funniest actor of our era, Leslie Nielsen, was a conservative. Case closed. You sir, are not only a moron, but you’re a bigoted one. Lacking a humor gene? That sounds like something a racist would say.

Any oldtime comedian will tell you that a joke told today is an old joke retold from yesterday. They will also tell you the really good jokes should have some truth in them.

Yes, because if you take 5 people and have them as a panel, they OBVIOUSLY should be tossing back and forth overwrought dialogue so rapidly that you almost can’t even make out what they’re saying, just like on an Aaron Sorkin show!

I am a regular Leno fan, and I sometimes think of a joke that he can use. (There is no way to send it in.) When he then “uses” it, I just think it must have been an obvious line, not that he stole it from me.

Leno is still funnier than Letterman, who has been mailing it in the past decade.

Seriously, I think Letterman actually thinks of ways to be unfunny, just to see if his audience will still laugh.

The sad part is, they always do.
