Fox Debate: Megyn Kelly Defends Obama Over Blame For Korean Conflict

Television producers take note: the element of surprise is your greatest ally in creating compelling television. Case in point: Conservative commentator Monica Crowley predictably took the position that the real culprit in North Korea’s recent rogue behavior was a “weak” President Obama. Enter America Live host Megyn Kelly, bringing the pain to her guest’s rather obviously and overly political opinion, with sharply punctuated and exasperated “What?!”

Crowley’s point is that “rogue nations” feel emboldened to act in an untoward manner because, in her esteem, Obama has the perception of being a “weak leader.” Kelly comes as close to a face palm as one can get away with on live television, quickly pointing out the real villain in this is North Korean despot Kim Jong Il, and that North Korea behaved badly under George. W. Bush. An entertaining and spirited debate from Fox News below:

Well… that’s a hell of a lot closer to “Fair and Balanced” than MSNBC will ever get.

  • ProgLib

I hope this is a sign of things to come from her. Don’t be afraid to be smart even if it’s more popular to be ignorant on that channel.

This is an excellent example of someone digging in their heels even when confronted by facts contrary to their beliefs. Crowley takes a side track through unsupportable claims about China, but she still held onto her false belief. Amazing. Conservatives just rarely admit that they’re wrong.

  • Fox News: Better that we sell Hate than Crack

This is how these segments go down. A Fox News producer decides that they want to push the talking point that North Korea’s aggression is the fault of Obama. So they bring on the partisan hack Moncia Crowley to push that argument and ask either the host or a designated “Democrat” to provide some pushback or resistance to whatever Crowley is saying. Regardless of the substance of the debate, Fox News has effectively planted the seed in its audience that Obama is to blame.

  • Big Eddie

To the world , Obama is clearly not a decisive leader . No country fears the U.S. because Obama wants to befriend them . In theory , in the academic world where he lives , that is the way to do it . It’s not effective in reality , unfortunately .

    “Kim Jong Il”

Every school had it’s bully that was threating to beat kids up for their lunch money, once the kids ganged up and kicked his ass, the threats ended.

Wow, could Monica Crowley be any more partisan?

Good on Ms. Kelly. I’m still having a hard time getting over that photoshoot she did earlier this week. Hubba hubba!

  • Gasket

“Dr” Monica Crowley is intellectually shallow. When you are a partisan ideologue immune to objectivity, you will always sound like a rambling buffoon like she does. I can always predict what she will say and I’m always right on the money. The Barack & A Hard Place segments on TOF are always painful to watch. Good job for challenging her asinine assertions Mrs Kelly.

Yeah because bullying and policing the rest of the world is a great way to get other countries to appreciate you.

  • pakattak

Also, Megyn Kelly is completely right. As far as I’m concerned, North Korea’s actions are par for the course for that country.

well it works for the muslim community. South Park censores it’s cartoons, political cartoonists are in hiding and FBI protection, people and countries quake in fear that a fatwa will be called out on them. Muslims terroists say jump and others say how high. So yes I’d say fear works… and is one hell of a motivato. Just pointing out the facts of the world we live in. Yell all you want… it’s true.

Monica is right; Communist China is starting to carry the “big stick” in the region..next is Formosa/Taiwan….our Navy and Japan and Taiwan are hopelessly outgunned by the Chicoms; both South Korea and Formosa could be taken over in about 24 hours with hardly any NKorea or Chicom casualties.

Then the Chicoms dump their T Bills and our economy and tax base collapse. China takes over the USA without firing a shot on the US mainland. It can definitely happen if we don’t have the right people guiding this ship of state.

  • Just4thefax

Fact: North Korea has always been fruity but I still like her best when she’s doing Megyn Kelly Feeds the Beast of Objectification, Strips down for GQ. Again the fact here speaks for itself liberals!

So that gives us an excuse to do the same? Two wrongs don’t make a right, my friend.

I’m just pointing out that it works, not the morality behind it. Just pointing out a truism.

Ironically – we put ourselves in that situation to start with anyway, tatboy. Maybe not completely, but in many ways we did.

That’s the problem. First we isolated ourselves which got us in the Great Depression. Then WW2 and we didn’t even do much until we were attacked (despite what was said about what they were doing in europe – they of course being the Nazis). Then what do we do after ‘learning’ from that ? Put our noses everywhere welcome or not. Yeah great.

It’s about balance and moderation and such yet Americans just don’t get it.

An example of how this works. As soon as France hinted at their new (stupid) law about banning the veil, I knew bin Laden would come out and say it’s a good enough reason to attack their country. What happened after they put it in law ? Yep – bin laden came out and said EXACTLY that. That’s the thing I’m getting at – it takes two or more to have a conflict.

Wrt to how terrorists get away with it : well it’s simple, really. Americans don’t get it here either (there really was something very valid that was said – and I’m sure you know what I’m referring to – giving up privacy for security; you won’t get or even deserve either in that case). History is showing that we think it will yet years and years and years ago it was said otherwise and that quote actually IS right. And the very fact so much of our rights have been taken away shows they already won. Sad but unfortunately that’s the truth.

I’m not saying any terror is right, but as bullies and police of the world – and sadly we are – it’s not surprising what is going on. As a friend put it : war is an industry and unfortunately your (referring to me, sigh) country is one of the biggest developers in that industry.

I think it wouldn’t matter who is president. That old coot is on his last leg and wants to get some parting shots in against South Korea (and the US – maybe world as a whole) before he kicks the bucket. I wouldn’t be surprised if he escalates the situation to an actual war to get his deathbed jollies.

So, according to Monica Crowley, it is America’s fault. Well, well. Look at the newest member of the “Blame America” club. I hope she and Michael Moore enjoy the buffet at the meetings since they both now blame America first for everything.

Kudos to Megyn for calling her out on it and making her backtrack, even that little bit.

Interesting…Monica presents argument which she didn’t elaborate on until Megyn called her down to earth and debunked with common sense…then Monica goes “deep” with argument two which is very different.

I’m not usually fan of her’s but that was a good catch on Megyn Kelly’s part.

This ain’t no surprise, Megyn’s a smart woman and she’s right on this topic. ..Goes to show all you fox bashers, don’t judge the network by listening to far left, or Hollywood opinions, or just by watching Sean hannity. .Fox for the most part is a balanced network. …That’s why there ratings are so high

  • http://twitter.com/SailRabbits Magister

This marks just another of the times that Megyn has called Monica back to earth.

To be honest, I’ve never understood why Ms. Crowley gets a platform, except that she’s blonde and back during the Clinton impeachment, MSNBC was looking for any woman they could find to fill one of the boxes on John Gibson’s show. After all, she really doesn’t have any special knowledge nor any expertise, so if they continue to stick her on Megyn’s show, it’s because Ms. Crowley can be easily and fairly pwned by Ms. Kelley or because they have a friendship off of the show and Megyn’s just making sure that her bud gets paid.

  • nrgetick

wow did hell just freeze over

  • Tedderman

No, she just posed recently for Maxim and realized she doesn’t have to be a hate monger all the time because she’s hot otherwise.

Yep, you finally understand what a fact is when it involves the objectification of a woman. No one will ever accuse you of having a feminist angle.
