John McCain: ‘We Have To Fix Our Problems With The Hispanics’

video

Appearing on MSNBC’s The Daily Rundown, John McCain bluntly told Chuck Todd, that the Republican Party had to “fix our problems with the Hispanics.”

RELATED: Donald Trump: ‘I’ve Always Had a Great Relationship With The Blacks’

Todd had asked McCain if Arizona was in play. The Arizona Senator took a long breath, pausing for five seconds to regain his composure before telling Todd it could be soon an electoral battleground.

“I think that if not this election cycle, the demographics are that Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, even Texas will all be in play,” McCain opined.

“And if Republicans don’t fix the problem?” Todd followed up.

“Yes, yes. We have to fix our problems with the Hispanics,” McCain acknowledged.

“And it starts where?” Todd asked.

“It starts with a way to address the issue of immigration in a humane and caring fashion, at the same time emphasizing the need to secure our borders because of the drug cartels and the people who transport people across our border and treat them terribly,” McCain replied.

It’s a Hispanic problem?? Not a Mexican problem?
Nothing like grouping a entire race / origin of people.
    Way to go John.

  • Gloves Kerns Donahue

Illegal aliens have bankrupted California and are seriously harming the US economy, but to Dems, ” Who cares, dude, we want the Hispanic vote”.

Every country in the world has closed borders, except the US. How about 25-30 million of us sneak into Mexico, and use their hospitals, schools, welfare system and take their jobs.
Let’s do that and see what happens. Then we can parade in the streets and wave the American flag. We’ll rape and rob and drive drunk and kill 60,000 of their citizens. We’ll demand our “rights”, and maybe try to vote.

The US president has 2 illegal aliens here in his own family. He’s not going to lift a finger to fix the problem. He just wants the votes, and to hell with the country.

  • Anonymous

If you want to fix our “problem” with the “Hispanics” you can start by not letting them in anymore you jerk.
Remember the border…?  Remember that thing you said yourself you were going to close first before we even discussed immigration…?
The only thing wrong with our immigration system in this country is that we stopped using it and decided to just let Mexico dictate immigration policy.
How are we going to control the flow of illegal aliens when we won’t close the border, give their kids instant citizenship and welfare, then we promise their parents a path to legalization…?
Fer crissakes we are putting Border Patrol Agents in prison based on the testimony of drug mules.

People do not have the right to just walk right in and become legalized.
It makes all the people who go through all the expense and time of doing it legally suckers.

I have great respect for McCain’s military service but sadly the guy is drinking the fruity liberal koolaid and has lost touch of reality!!

Illegal immigration is destroying this Country in just about every way one can think of!!

McCain is confused, thanks in no small part to his association with Juan Hernandez.  John, please go away. You are not helping anyone

‘We Have To Fix Our Problems With The Hispanics’ John McCain

…Does he mean get their votes, before kicking them out?

The quote could be attributed to any so called ethnic/cultural minority. Insert and change as deemed required or appropriate.

It’s a little, too little and far too late, to convince ‘Hispanics’ over what is now patently obvious to them. They are unlikely to be swayed by any seemingly seductive or kind words being espoused by slithering Presidential Candidates.

Don’t forget those damn Canadians. And no Jews or blahs. And no Irish or Scots, those potato-sucking sheep felchers. And no Dutch. And I’ll be effed in the ay if I’ll see another Belgian, Bumese or Bengalese cross my border with their stupid fat sausage fingers. In fact no B countries are allowed. But if you’re from Thailand or know someone from Thailand, you’re more than welcome to our great nation. This is a respectable country and you need a Thai to get in.

Trouble is Gloves, their cheap labor is fueling our economy, especially in the farming sector. So the conservative business and farm establishments aren’t too keen at losing all that good cheap help

  • The Real Royal Emperor

BIG PETTY EMITS:”Every country in the world has closed its borders, except the US.”HRH RESPONDS:Really? You have documentation of every other country closing its borders? So, the former colonial powers have all closed their borders to those in their former colonies? The UK has closed its borders not only to the former colonies but also to the Commonwealth? The EU countries have closed their borders to other EU countries? Immigration has ceased throughout the entire world? Do the Murdochs know this?Really? The US has not closed its borders? Travel into the US, for personal and business purposes has not been greatly reduced by the draconian measures of Immigration, Customs and the TSA o the extent that billions upon billions of dollars have been lost and are continuing to be lost? Deportations are not at a record high? The deportation procedures have not been streamlined to the extent that the a 14 year old African-American girl, born and residing in the US of US citizens, not speaking Spanish, was deported to Colombia? You’re not even trying now. You’re just whining to whine. On the rare instances in which you offer a substantive tidbit, it’s all gristle. Really. Think or go.

This guy’s too oblivious to even know what this has done to his own state and he’s blaming the victims of it all?  He can get lost.  Time to put this senile geezer in an old folks home and forget about him.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

Perhaps, you don’t realize that returns and repatriations now outnumber immigration.

Don’t say ‘Hispanics’, your voting base won’t understand that.  You mean ‘the brown people’.

  • Anonymous

The solution, John, is simple: Remove all border security and enforcement; increase public benefits to non-citizens.

I mean, it’s not easy to out-pander the Democrats here. They play to win.

  • Hout Bosques

It’s really part of a larger problem, with the poor.

But McCain knows that in THIS cycle, the GOP is going with Rove’s strategy: – isolate Dem voters thru re-districting, – dampen voter turn-out by restricting the right of HIspanics & blacks to vote by voter I.D. laws plus caging plus intimidation, – an unprecedented tsunami of SuperPac money, & – a newfound consistency from their likely nominee: No more flip-flopping from Mittens – from now on, it’s 100% fibbens. It could work. The American voter is remarkably gullible.Anyway, McCain knows they’re stuck with it for now, that it’s touch & go this time, & pretty soon they’re just going to have to get rid of democratic elections entirely. My guess is if the GOP gets hold of at least either both chambers of Congress or one plus the White House, that’s it for any hope of getting back to democracy.

John has been drinking the liberal koolaid and thought he had to be politically correct….at first it is an illness but if over exposed becomes a disease!! He has been over exposed!!

Right….because mending relationships with Hispanics means supporting illegal immigrants. The reason conservatives are losing support among all minority groups is because of their inability for nuance.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

That’s the problem with an original, well-reasoned argument, isn’t it? You can’t copy and paste a response.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

But, Colorado_Cretin, deportations are at a record high and immigration is at a lower level than repatriation. I guess this doesn’t fit in with one of your patented talking point grunts, does it?

  • Gloves Kerns Donahue

Farmers can pay more for pickers and pass along the cost. It’s cheaper than bankrupting states with the social services and all the other costs.

If I was in Mexico, I would probably try to get out too, but Mexicans have to restore their own country, not damage the US economy. They can stop the crime, beheadings and murders and make it a tourist destination again.

The real idiots here are you dorks for your dogmatism. You know, it’s not that long ago when you guys used to win the latino vote! Now Obama is trouncing Romney by almost 50points among latinos and he is the MODERATE in your camp! Look at the numbers. The latino share of the entire electorate keeps increasing every decade and the white share keeps going DOWN. Not competing for that electorate (yes, that means catering to their demands) will ensure that the GOP will be a regional party in the next 20yrs. Just like blacks, once you lose them, they will never be back. Maybe you should stop sipping that Rush Limbaugh flavor aid? He will be dead and gone by then when you are in the minority.

Under Spanish speaking Bush, Illegal immigration soared and  ICE enforcement dropped.

“The eight years of President George W. Bush’s administration saw a
marked increase in illegal immigration and a drop in immigration
enforcement throughout much of his tenure. For example, the number of
illegal aliens arrested in workplace cases fell from nearly 3,000 in
1999 to 445 in 2003, with the number of criminal cases against employers during this period falling from 182 to four. Not surprisingly, by 2005,there were an estimated 10-20 million illegal aliens living in the
    United States.”
“Despite the failure of past amnesties and the fact that these increase
illegal immigration, Bush repeatedly pushed mass legalization (amnesty)
schemes for illegal immigrants using the well-worn line that they “are
doing jobs Americans will not” or “are not” doing. One scheme was the
Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act 2007 which was defeated by
    widespread popular opposition.”

And if Mexico is so wonderful, why have millions of Mexicans come to the US?  I have several friends who are 1st generation Mexican-Americans who haven’t been ”home” to see the relatives in years because:

    a.  They’re not sure they’ll come back alive; and/or
    b.  It’s a cesspool.

I’ve been to Mexico on business twice.  Once to Mexico City, the other time just outside Vera Cruz (about 45 minutes).  Granted, I have only those two examples to draw on and both were more than 10 years ago….but those two cities were actually a little worse than the typical US city of the day (except for Detroit which even then was a dump).  And the outlying areas, just outside the city, were flat out scary.  When I inquired about seeing a bit of the countryside, my hosts, Mexican nationals who worked for large multi-national corporations, basically looked at me like I was crazy.  On the way to the plant outside Vera Cruz…we were on dirt roads most of the time.  Not gravel.  Not asphalt.  Just good old fashioned dirt.

Would the GOP rather “fix their problem with Hispanics” who are 16% of the voters or p*ss off the 76% white majority?…then they’ll have a REAL problem from which they’ll never recover.

  • http://twitter.com/MarkA_STL Mark Ashpole

Obama is not setting any records for deportation, and his numbers have been steadily falling since taking office. According to the deportation records from the DHS, the supposed record deportation of the Obama administration quoted through this thread is misleading, at best.

First, it is disingenuous to argue the Obama administration has a record setting number of deportations. The DHS divides deportations into two categories: voluntary and involuntary. The oft-quoted number of 400,000 only counts the involuntary deportations. The purpose of deportation is to ensure those here illegally are returned to their country of origin. It is preferable for this to happen voluntarily, but if necessary involuntary methods are necessary as well.

When one considers all of the deportations, the worst of Bush’s year’s in office is still better than the best year of Obama, and the average of Bush (2000-2007) of 1,377,767 deportations crushes Obama’s average (2008-2010) of 1,005,345 deportations.

Second, Obama’s record of total deportations, have been decreasing since he took office:
    Total (09-10): 1,171,058, 981,329, 863,647.

So, Obama fans will need a new meme, or just keep repeating the old one, knowing it is nonsense.

right on the money, BUT I think the discussion is always going in these two ways:
    -Hispanics
    -The border with Mexico
if you come here in NY you’ll see more Chinese and Korean illegals than Hispanics or similar numbers, if you include other countries like India and Pakistan or B.Desh you get the picture, you can even include a large number of Irish illegals (in the thousands), so the argument MUST shift to secure the BORDERS, all the borders, and close loopholes in the inmigration laws that people like Bill Gates and others use for skilled labor (with underpaid conditions), only then we should deal with the illegals already here, there must be a way, a humane way to do it, but until borders are secured, nothing will work. Enforcing the employment area is also important and exposing employers who do not follow the laws is crucial, this way people ‘self-deport’ and return without much fuss. Other categories like refugees deserve a humane look.

Democracy?  Democracy is when disagreeing parties are able to compromise for the benefit of the public.   Republicans & Tea Partiers have the attitude of “my way or the highway” and be damned with the country and citizens.  We could give a sh it”.
Isn’t that what they think?  And why do they think “blah” folks or Mexicans will ever vote for them again?

How about the billions of dollars we spend on illegal aliens just in our emergency rooms! How about the billions of dollars we spend on illegal aliens in our schools? Did you know that we go to Mexico to recruit spanish speaking teachers (not otherwise qualified to teach in our schools) to meet government mandates for bi-lingual education!!!!!
How about the billions of dollars illegal aliens send home to Mexico that do not help the economy in America!!!!! realjoe, your ignorance is showing.

One of the main reasons I oppose the TPers is because they’re useful idiots for those who support loose borders. Almost all top TP *leaders* are on the wrong side of immig.

How does it feel to agree w/ Dick Armey and the Koch bros., Clovis4?

As for the GOP, the problem they have is corruption: many top GOP leaders enable illegal immig. because they want contributions from those who profit off illegal immig. Much of the GOP base is on the right side of the issue (more or less), and some of those same leaders pander to them. But, it’s all just pandering: few of them actually mean it.

If the GOP were smart and non-corrupt, they could forcefully oppose illegal immig. and discredit its supporters, like I’ve done countless times:

    24ahead.com/topics

The TPers could help out with that, but they just don’t seem capable of understanding what’s what and getting them to do things intellectual is quite a challenge.

this is the same jerk who backed the restrictice iummigration law in arizona; he must have fortotten; he needs to be gone; hes getting real old and no one cares much what he thinks anymore; his total disrespect of the presdent and displaced anger should be addressed by a professional; in fact, all the gop wannabees need a few lessons in decorum; they all stink.

Mr. McCain, you need to go.  You pandered to them now go and join them on the unemployment/welfare line.  You were one of the reasons I had to vote for Obama and look what I’ve got now.

And when are you going to speak out about all of the cuts the pentagon is making to our military.  You caree,r in political office, was all because of your capture and yet I haven’t heard a word from you on what they’re doing to our servicemen and women.

Vote out all incumbents, demand term limits, and let’s get Obama out of office.

Nobody has to “cook any books”.  All they have to do is have some brains and face reality and know a little history.
When George W Bush came into office in Jan 2001, he accepted a $250 Billion budget surplus.  The national debt was $5.6 Trillion.  He immediately began giving tax cuts mostly for the rich.  In addition, he took us into 2 wars and passed an UNFUNDED Medicare Part D drug progam.  When George W Bush left office in Jan 2009, he left a $1.3 TRILLION budget deficit and a national debt now was $10.7 TRILLION.  Furthermore, he obligated future administrations to the INTEREST on his DOUBLED national debt which is around $500 BILLION a year,  Medicare Part D at a cost of $1 TRILLION per year, tax cuts which have cost $3-4 Trillion in lost revenue, and two wars will more than likely cost us $4 Trillion when the dust is settled and our troops are home, but it won’t pay for the rehab for injuries those soldiers will suffer for years to come.

It is about time for Republicans to add ujp all the damage that George did to our country and be honest that no one could have fixed it in 3 years – it took FDR 10 years to fix the Great Depression and it will take a lot longer than 3 years for Obama to fix the Great Recession, especially with republicans who don’t want to raise the taxes on their rich buddies (or themselves) while the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Some immigrants should have just stayed home instead of coming to our country and trying to make it a dictatorship by the Tea party.  Go back where you belong Orley Taitz.

Who is we John? And as being half Hispanic what’s the
problem you think you see here John. Freedom? Look, you had your time in 2008
and blew it. I’ve never witnessed a more pathetic campaign and now that you’ve endorsed
Mitt, he’s no longer on my list. All I remember is you imploring your
supporters which included me to not even question Obama. Well John 79.6% of our
population has been and continues to be insulted by the racism charge by
default but oh no, let’s not fight back. After Obama’s election that’s over, we
now fight back. While I thank you for your service both in the military and in being
a representative of your constituency IMO it’s time for you to step aside and
let the others do what you should have but did not.

Oh and nice job with the Daughter, she learned well.

First of all, you need to be honest, but being a republican I know that lying comes natural is difficult to overcome.
“every country in the world has closed borders”.  Apparently you haven’t been traveling much.  The entire continent of Europe is without borders.  I can go from Italy into France without even knowing it except for the sign.

Your statement just shows a sign of immaturity on your part as well as an unwillingess to accept the fact that the “relatives” that you refer to of the president’s are really people he met at the age of 21 and hasn’t had any real connection with. And you know it.

You are right about the legitimate guest worker program, but then Newt Gingrich was also correct in that young kids should be able to once again know the responsibility of picking beans or strawberries. It is unfortunate that too many parents kept their children working to many hours and kept them out of school to pick the crops and that is why they passed the laws they did.  When I was a kid, I made enough money to pay for all my school clothes and any spending money I needed throughout the year.

Screw McCain: he is an opportunistic idiot who continuously chants about closing the barn door after the horses are loose but they never quite stop coming out. To say he is a traitor to his own country and the rule of law is somewhat of an understatement. He has been buffaloed by illegal foreign nationals and political correctness into throwing in the towel and handing the keys to the greatest civilization that ever was to a bunch of con men campesinos.

It’s amazing how Obama is given credit for micro managing deportation but when it comes to the gunwalker issue suddenly he and Holder didn’t know anything and their inferiors are to blame. Welcome to the endemic lie that is liberal philosophy.

You obviously have never traveled Mexico. If you have, you should leave the Club Med enclaves, learn the lingo and travel like the average Mexican does. You will be astounded at the permanent Chinese fire drill that comprises the Third World. Even going to the Post Office is a major challenge.

White voters are the only ones in America who vote on issues and not skin color so that 76% is diluted next to the pure voting blocs by skin of Latinos and blacks.

No one says that a 100% Black neighborhood needs more diversity.

No one says that a 100% Asian neighborhood needs more diversity.

No one says that a 100% Muslim neighborhood needs more diversity.

According to anti-Whites, they are already 100% diverse.

All White neighborhoods and only White neighborhoods need to be more diverse. White neighborhoods only stop needing to be more diverse when there are no White people left in them.

Anti-racist is a codeword people HIDE BEHIND to be anti-White.

When Whites threaten non-White countries with immigration ‘anti-racists’ call it colonialism.

When non-Whites threaten White countries immigration ‘anti-racists’ call it progress/diversity/multiculturalism/etc.

‘Anti-racists’ demand immigration and assimilation in ALL & ONLY White countries.

These ‘anti-racists’ are in fact demanding White genocide.

But of course we all know that, and we all know anti-racist is a codeword for anti-White.

Cultural IQ, seriously if that isn’t the most racist bullshit that I have ever heard. They know enough not to vote for idiotic  republicans. That speaks volumes on its own.

  • Anonymous

Well, when a party offers citizenship, welfare, and benefits for life and you are a poor uneducated illegal alien or relative of an illegal alien, you will probably vote Dem.  They’ll never keep those promises but the rhetoric is a handy tool to get their vote.  Since they are only 7% of electorate, it is a myth that Republicans have to out-pander Democrats.  Unless they abandon all conservative principles and become Democrats they will never out-pander the Dems.  The dirty secret is that Dems and Repubs have turned a blind eye to illegal immigration because it floods the supply of labor and is ‘good for business’.
