Keith Olbermann Slams Texas For Stupidity

video

“A mind may be a terrible thing to waste, but if you waste 15 million of them, apparently you get Texas.” That was Keith Olbermann tonight, doing his best to collectively piss off the biggest state in the contiguous U.S. after a recent poll showed that 60 percent of those polled in the cowboy state believe that humans and dinosaurs existed at the same time, or weren’t sure.

We’re not really sure what Olbermann’s goal here is except to rile up a bunch of people…he even admits that he wishes there was a political association he could pin this on, but then goes on to spout numbers of Democrats versus Republicans who go to church. Which is a little misleading…there’s no data saying that everyone who answered “stupidly” (i.e. not believing in evolution, or unsure) had strong religious beliefs one way or another. That’s the problem with statistics: hard numbers at face value seem inarguable, but once you take a closer look, you see how easy it is to skew data to make say, an entire state look like a bunch of backwards idiots.

Drew, come on buddy, you can go that last little bit. You’ve already got KO Klown and Texas in the same post.

Reach for that finish line and link him with this:

    http://beltwayblips.dailyradar.com/video/dallas-tea-party-invites-white-people-at-msnbc/

As for this, KO Klown doesn’t need any rational reasonable reason to attack in the most contemptible way anyone who doesn’t march in lockstep with him.

As the scorpion said, it’s who I am.

  • Facebook User

It doesn’t get any funnier than the San Antonio press’s headline for this story “Meet the Flintstones.”

  • Moderate

He is using the Daily-koz survey which was a very slanted survey. About 23% of the population are progressive and if they persist in this mission of pissing off the rest of the population, they will go the same route as the dinosaurs.

    Bing Boy,

It was a new University of Texas/Texas Tribune poll.

When you rely on insults instead of ideas, you’ve essentially admitted that you lost the argument. Yet, by that measure, Olbermann loses the argument every night, every week, every month, every year…

Keith just cannot help himself when it comes to ridiculing any segment of the country, so long as it makes him appear more intelligent. “Look, there’s people who don’t use their think muscle better than me do! He’s so insecure it is almost comical. Almost. I’ve taught my daughter that it serves her better to elevate herself rather than drag others down — she picked that concept up by age ten. Keith may get there himself one day.

Takes a lotta guts (and obviously no brains) to piss all over an entire state. Is this the beginning of the end for Olby?

Here’s the real reason Olbermann is attacking Texas.

As someone who agreed with pretty much everything Keith said during the Iraq War – and who agrees that creationism is pretty much for retards – I have to give Mr. Olbermann a resounding “shut the @#!& up”. Dude, not only are you doing more damage to your side every time you open your mouth, but you’ve become everything you hate and are preaching to a rapidly diminishing choir.

On a separate note – I am consistently amazed that the right has managed to demonize the word “progressive”, which literally means “favoring or promoting progress”. It’s just another example of their sneaky genius for twisting words around. See also: “climate change”, “government takeover of healthcare”, “clean air act”, “democrat party”, “empathy”, et al.

I give Grammie and A++ for consistency and perseverance. Too bad mediaite simply refuses to link to the ad, despite it being tied to Olby’s spew tonight. Too funny.

  • Olby Sucks

Looks like the hack has really stepped in it this time. Chalk up the coward as a ‘no-show.’

  • writer

As Olbermann continues his descent into complete insanity, I’m sure he’ll get around to offending the people in the other forty nine. Give him time.

  • rmbltmbl

“We’re not really sure what Olbermann’s goal here is except to rile up a bunch of people..”

    Keith Olbermann?

Right on, fellow Patriots!!1 The writers of this website are a bunch of COWARLY HACKS who are CLEARLY in the tank for MS-PEE-ON-ME and the SOCIOFASCISTS!!1 Instead of finding a blog which I ENJOY reading, I plan on joining the chorus of American Voices CRITICIZING this site every chance they get!!1 We WILL NOT REST until Abrams cleans house!!1

I live in Texas and Olbermann was being generous. There are a large number of morons who live here. If you think people and dinosaurs inhabited the earth at the same time, then you are a total retard and deserve to be ridiculed. If you want me to be nicer, then you need to be smarter.

  • Jelperman

I realize Dan Abrams is still seriously butt-hurt over losing his show on MSNBC to Rachel Maddow (Keith Olbermann’s choice for the 9PM EST time slot), and can see him holding a grudge. But is all this concern-trolling over Keith, Rachel and MSNBC really necessary?

    >I am consistently amazed that the right has managed to demonize the word “progressive”,

They haven’t. It’s a great and proud word important to our history and identity, just like the words liberal and American.

  • The Real Royal King

I find it terribly, terribly amusing that everyone is attacking Olbermann when he was discussing a UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS POLL!!! Of course, if the Daily Kos reported on the CPAC straw poll, the same morons would say the poll is slanted. There are lots of good reasons, sound bases for attacking Olbermann. This isn’t one of them.

As a native Texan and as a Texan who has lived the greatest part of his life in Texas, I can attest to this fact: We have the biggest collection of Neanderthals outside of Bedrock. Re-Elect Perry!

  • The Real Royal King

I live in Texas and Olbermann was being generous.

Indeed. He should probably be hired by the Texas Tourism Board as its spokesperson. He put a positive light on Texas and all of us. Well, thank heavens for Alabama!

  • apparently

How much did the State of Arkansas pay Olbermann to say these things? Never thought I’d see something that made them look good – and I’m from there.

  • Grammie

Cubby says…”I am consistently amazed that the right has managed to demonize the word ‘progressive’ “.

Cubby, I am afraid you have that backwards.

It is the libs who ave demonized the word “progressive” and the right has just helpfully pointed it out.

  • The Real Royal King

Yes, indeed, the ever mean and vicious Grannie attacking anyone and everyone who is not out in the bushes, peering under the beds, creeping into the closets to join the Raygun Brigades Search and Destory Mission for Kommunists. Of course, the job is easy since to Grannie’s mind, anyone who disagrees with her is a Kommunist. Yes, 1952 was a great year, and it is to be held onto with vigor.

  • chocolatemilk05

So, if you do not have the same ideals as Obbie, your stupid. Sounds like less news and more of his mind.

  • writer

The Racist Royal King proves there is at least one stupid person in Texas.

  • Olby Sucks

Thanks for our daily dose of progressive hypocrisy, faux royal king! ;)

Oh, Hell – Rick Perry is still trying to get that cat to stay out for the night – Texas has its neanderthals and they’re the ones who fought the Mexican stegosaurus at the big fence.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bill-Adkins/1585417987 Bill Adkins

Texas – always a hoot. How many Texans does it take to screw in a light bulb? Don’t know – they’ve never managed to do it.

  • The Real Royal King

In my part of Texas, Bill, we affectionately call Perry “Tollbooth”. Users fees are always preferable to taxes, especially when you get large kickbacks from the Spanish companies you hire to manage them.

  • TeresainFortWorth

Honey, Don’t Mess With Texas – we have rope, guns, and branding irons, and we know how to use them…….
