They are the only ones looking at things in terms of “black” or “white.” To say that Obama’s singing somehow is racist code for minstrelsy is truly ludicrous unless you wear glasses that make you perceive it as a “black thing” to begin with, in which case, you have a problem.

Only such a person can then say it’s racist.

If it were a golf allusion, they’d have no problem because they don’t associate golf specifically with black people.

But they cry about singing because they see it as a black thing. They are, therefore, racists themselves.

I’m not going to say that what you have said is untrue, those numbers are close to accurate, but they are highly misleading.  I’ll explain.  First off, of those 47% of Americans, with unemployment at 9%, and most likely higher, let’s say 15%, nice round number, that means that 15% of Americans, among the 47% that don’t pay taxes, don’t have an income.  Would you say it’s fair to tax those people?

But let’s move past that for now, after all, there are still a high percentage of Americans that pay no taxes.  And the telling number is that there is a rate that you can make that will allow you to pay no taxes, and it’s not because of greasing the system, it’s just the fact that the cost of living is high and low income families are barely making ends meet and feeding their children, taking part time jobs just to do what they can to keep their families alive.  Is it fair to tax those people?  Again, a millionaire paying 2% more in taxes does not hurt as much as if that group of Americans pay 2%.  In other words, that 2% increase means maybe one less luxury item for the millionaires and means one less month of groceries for the less fortunate.  So, there’s a difference that those numbers do not show.

And it also comes down to the phrase “fair share.”  That phrase alone is not a fact.  Fair share is subjective, in other words it’s not a fact but an opinion. And as you probably learned in elementary school, facts are not opinions and vice versa.

But here’s the most important thing, and it’s where the problem in taking these numbers (which are true) as a universal fact becomes troubling.  Let’s make the numbers small, just to help us out with our demonstration.  Now the 1% doesn’t mean that they control 1% of the wealth.  Some people put that number at 80% and some go as high as 95%, but I’d like to keep that the 1% controls 80% of the wealth, so let’s do that.  Let’s make our income taken in by our hypothetical economy $1000, with the 80%, that means that the 1% controls $800.  The 99% now has $200 of that money.  So, let’s say taxes are $100 (or 10% of the total economy) collected, again, these are round numbers so math is easy for us, but they show the point.  So, the 1% pay 37% of the taxes.  Thus they pay $37.  That’s $37 of $800, the 99% pay $63 off of $200.  Now, when you break those numbers down, it doesn’t seem as fair does it?  In other words, as you can see from this simplified example, the 1% are paying 37% but they are also only paying roughly 4 – 5% of their income whereas the 99% are paying 30% of their income.  Now, again, I’ve kept these numbers round and simple to help with the math but this isn’t far from the reality of taxes.

I believe tax loopholes should be closed so everyone pays the same proportion of their income. However how much income do you suggest each person be allowed? Do you propose limits?Should we all have equal salaries? What do we do for people who can’t work? Do we force that 1 person to make $1. Or do we force 1 person to do the work of 2 people in order to make up for the unabled person. Who decides who is unabled? Who decides who does the work of 2 people?What is the incentive to work hard if you have to do the work of 2 people but get paid $1? A society like this has a name and it is not capitalism, it does not foster competition and innovation and people like Bill Gates and MicroSoft and Steve Jobs and Apple do not exist.

It’s funny how all I did was show how the statement the previous commenter was not 100% accurate and suddenly I’m championing socialism.  The thing is that for some reason the idea that you don’t think the rich are paying the same taxes as the middle class that makes you a socialist. And so, finally, they did not recognize the blatant racism that precipitated the institution of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, or understand even why people call them out for engaging in age old lingo, lingo that is taken for granted by the Newts of the world because in fact, in the back of their unrepentent minds, they still presume to have their boot on the black man’s neck,

That being said, Newt’s comments about the language of the ghetto was certainly innocent, and intended to be helpful and understood in context, but Romney viciously turned that on Newt in a deceptive ad, to go along with several other deceptive ads, which kind of confirmed to Newt that Romney was one jack off from having a credible hand. And Newt would be smart to hang around and continue working hard even if he can not fund any ground game, because Romney has not been vetted. And when he is he could fall like a stone. Mitt has more wright problems than you can shake a stick at, and so far that has been off limits. But when the gloves come off, you can bet that the anti-Mitt side of the republican party will be using that stuff. And Gingrich may, ironically, “gallop off” again as the odds on favorite. Then if Newt and Paul finally announce that they are joining forces as one ticket, then that could be a real winner.
