Newt Gingrich Says Campaign Staff Left Over ‘Strategic Differences’
GOP presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich may have encountered a minor setback yesterday when much of his campaign staff decided to resign, but that’s won’t dissuade Gingrich from keeping his eye on the prize.
Speaking to members of the media outside his home in Virginia, Gingrich explained that “strategic differences” in managing his campaign were what ultimately led to the mass resignations:
We had a strategic disagreement about how to run a campaign. There have been very few campaigns that have been solutions oriented and that are oriented to every single American.
Gingrich also insisted that he is “dedicated” to his campaign, and plans to campaign “very intensely,” mentioning that he has future stops planned in California and New Hampshire:
I’m prepared to go out and to campaign very intensely but I want a campaign on ideas and on solutions and I want to do it in a way that brings Americans together into a large movement.
[…] There is a fundamental strategic difference between the traditional consulting community and the kind of campaign I want to run. Now we’ll find out over the next year who’s right.
Earlier this week, as ABC News’ Arlette Saenz reported, Gingrich continued on the campaign trail, stopping in Hudson, New Hampshire Wednesday after a two week break.
The former Speaker also addressed rumors of a disagreement between him and his wife, Callista, telling reporters that the two “make decisions as a couple.”
