No Surprise: Katie Couric Tells People She’s Leaving The CBS Evening News

Who saw this coming? Okay, fine. Everybody did. But now, with a post on the website of People magazine, it’s official: Katie Couric will step down as anchor of the CBS Evening News. “I have decided to step down from the CBS Evening News,” Couric tells People in an exclusive interview. “I’m really proud of the talented team on the CBS Evening News and the award-winning work we’ve been able to do in the past five years in addition to the reporting I’ve done for 60 Minutes and CBS Sunday Morning. In making the decision to move on, I know the Evening News will be in great hands, but I am excited about the future.”

While rumors about Couric’s next step remain rampant, in the interview all she says is this: “I am looking at a format that will allow me to engage in more multi-dimensional storytelling,” she says, adding that other details, including when and where the show will air, are “still being discussed.” Hope that clears it up for you.

When will Newsbusters claim victory for her firing? Oh wait… that will not happen. Conservatives have a grasp on reality as opposed to MediaMatters.

Katie will always be a hero to me. She was the one that came up with that really complicated and crafty “gotcha” question “What do you read”?

    Poor Sarah, Katie outsmarted you!

“I am looking at a format that will allow me to engage in more multi-dimensional storytelling,”

Bitch, that’s what you were doing at CBS news- telling stories.

Now STFU, and get off my TV!

Looks like Palin had the last laugh….

She was on Greta tonight. The Katie shot was especially funny… “i read that she was leaving in a newspaper. one of many newspapers i read.” Palin added she had read how Katie wanted to do do more “multi-dimensional storytelling”. Palin said she supposed this was and interesting concept and guessed it was as opposed to reading stories straight off the teleprompter…..LOL

….or else join Keith on that Al Gore channel that only Color Me Badd watches….LOL

Maybe she can take over for that guy on TMZ who is always hanging over the cubicle drinking from his plastic Coke mug? It would suit her.

Hahahaha! Where I come from, “storytelling” is a euphemism for lying. Looks like Couric’s been ‘storytelling’ for years already.
Where will the Emily Litella (‘Mathew Shephard was killed by Christians! He wasn’t? Never mind! Congresswoman Giffords was shot by a Tea Partier! She wasn’t? Never mind…”) of network news go next? How ’bout MSNBC? They’ll take ANYBODY!
