Ron Paul Refuses To Dignify Ad Seeking Rick Perry ‘Mistresses’ With A Comment

Video

Texas Rep. Ron Paul (R) appeared on Fox News today to discuss his thoughts on the “emergence” of fellow Texan Rick Perry onto the GOP candidate field, the back-and-forth brewing between Perry’s campaign and former “Bushies,” as well as that odd anti-Perry ad published by a Paul supporter.

It would appear that Paul isn’t terribly worried about Perry posing a threat to his own campaign:

This might be a flash. Who knows what it is? I don’t think it’s a surprise. Everybody knew he was coming in. He’s governor of a big state, so he will, you know, get some credibility just for that. So many have entered, you know, over this race over the past year. They have come for a few months or so and then they leave and get a lot of publicity.

I’m saying he may not… in two or three weeks, people will have asked him a lot more questions and his views will be more well known, then you have to ask about, you know, the significance of his entry. For me, the significance is he doesn’t threaten my campaign, our campaign, because his views are more conventional. They are more status quo. They are more part of the whole system, so he doesn’t talk about bringing troops home or anything of these — or any of these things. I think he will dilute the other votes in opposition to our campaign.

Later, Paul was asked about the recent ad placed by a campaign supporter seeking out people who may have slept with Perry. He wouldn’t take the bait:

Well, I don’t know how something like that qualifies as a question on national TV as if it’s something serious. I would say it speaks for itself. And for me to address — this is news to me, I don’t know anything about it. For me to address it would give it too much credibility. And I think bringing it up gives it more credibility than it deserves. It’s rather silly. How can this be a significant issue in a presidential race?

Paul later added that he didn’t care to monitor the actions of those who support him and would rather ignore things like the Perry ad.

Have a look at Paul’s interview on Fox News:

Ron Paul is right- why is fox news asking him about Perry’s sexual life?

    This is silly

If she had somehow worked the Federal Reserve into the question, she would have gotten an answer.

Easy out there, Ron. You might have wanted to condemn that sort of political character assassination.

I agree with Mark Davis, that I would like to “graft” Ron Paul’s adherence to constitutional principles onto all of the other Republican candidates, BUT, for me when Ron Paul starts talking about foreign policy he does “blame America first” and he sounds like the crazy uncle in the basement. Paul cannot win the nomination and he knows it on some level.

  • http://twitter.com/arrenwarton Allen

    Mark Davis fan, nice.

  • Anonymous

Whats wrong in blaming America first?

America’s foreign policies are to blame for so many things. I hate overly patriotic sentiments

That ad was stupid, but the publicity about it was even worse.  Let’s ignore random nonsense like that and focus on substantive issues.

Where has avoidance gotten us? Oh right…a steady stream of garrisoning the globe, at the cost of so very many lives, a staggering some in blood and treasure, corruption, moral bankruptcy, advancing as a society and culture, and what is no less that 71 constant years of war building.

And for what? Idiotic US exceptionalism?

The right, the GOP, people that kid themselves theyre fiscal conservatives just dont want to face it, that their whole lives…theyve been on the wrong side.

  • ImNotBlue

Because if you start off by assigning blame to America first, you’re not seeking to find out the source of the problem, only to reaffirm your predetermined view that “America is/was wrong.”

  • ImNotBlue

Because it was an (alleged) Paul supporter who took out an ad calling for women to tell their stories about their encounters with Perry.

Paul should have said, “Public citizens are allowed to do as they wish within the law, and I cannot control that.  He did this in my name, which is wrong and unfortunate.  I want nothing to do with such accusations, and would ask that any other supporters of mine -well intentioned as they may be- would stick to the issues, not superficial nonsense like this.”

I don’t think he’s responsible for this guy or his ad, but that doesn’t mean he can’t comment on it.

In 1953 Iran was a democracy…. then the CIA got involved… long story short, Iran is now our enemy.
Is not the CIA an American institution or is it made up of former Nazis resqued by Project Paperclip and operating under their own agenda.

    Iran a democracy…. no way, you say….doh !

  • GoNavy

Oy! Broad generalizations, the bane of the thinking man. And I agree about the war machine, but to assign blame just to GOP is ridiculous. Guess you never heard of John Murtha?

  • GoNavy

You have to hand it to the guy, I believe he has always had these beliefs, since he started his political career. Even if some are out there. Quite unusual for a politician.

  • Anonymous

Yeah, I really enjoyed the exchange Martha and Paul had in the above video about Iran and its political  history. And what did ya think of Paul’s position on whether Pocahontas should have married John Rolfe?

    I couldn’t believe it , either!

  • Anonymous

    Sure is!

A Paul supporter asked him about Rick Perry’s sex life?? I think it’s you, Stonepark, who could use some reading comprehension classes. It was FOX that asked him the stupid question (and it is a stupid question). Try it again, but this time read it more slowly. If that doesn’t help, ask a grownup to explain. We’ll all wait, cause we really care about your interpretation.

  • Anonymous

You need some reading comprehension classes troll. A Ron Paul supporter took out an ad in a newspaper asking for dirt on Perry’s sex life.

Even as a child, you are a loser.

I think I will have to agree on our “war” mistakes, agree with Paul.  We have made too many wars.
Where does he intend to get “oil”, however–from our ground, where I hear there is lots?  I wonder,
though, what a Paul administration would do with those going into radical poverty in our nation.
Are they useless eaters  to his administration?  I believe his views are simplistic under our current
mess.  Several generations ago they would have been “simple”, not “simplistic”, and one could
support him all the way.  As it is, I would like to see a better Democrat running, someone like
Henry Jackson (before your time, kids) or even JFK

  • Anonymous

The add is so bad that it sounds like a dirty trick from Ron Paul, and Perry’s DNC opponents. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to discover that to be true.

  • Anonymous

Quite right – Ron Paul sticks to the issues when the media wants to talk about gossip.

Remember the Moneybomb tomorrow Sat Aug 20! (RonPaul2012.com)

  • Cecelia

Well, it seems to me that if Obama had been the target, the media would be tearing their garments and DEMANDING that Paul account for knowing the perpetrator and that Paul call him off.

Media interest is sanguine about this for sure.

That’s in contrast to  liberal political operative interest.  They want the ad to be out there, but NOT emphasized so as to still stay a bit under the radar.

Consequently they haul out their claque tricks to minimize and change the subject.

  • Anonymous

irony……it was the fox reporter that asked ron paul

  • http://www.redstateeclectic.typepad.com AngelaTC

And here I thought that the avoidance of any and all responsibility was a liberal trait.

  • Anonymous

He didn’t want comment on it because it would give it too much publicity and their are hundred of other adds that he would have to comment on and it would distract from running a campaign.

  • http://twitter.com/usernamenuse sailing

Perry was actually an afterthought in the last minute of the interview.  The rest of the interview is substantive, and well worth listening to.  Media does us no favors by only pushing material suitable for the National Enquirer.

  • AliveStillKickin

Well….With all of the moral gone to hell….and folks watching vampires…whores…and cheating housewives for “entertainment…it’s no wonder many would be interested in digging up some juicy garbage in candidate’s lives…..not that I really give a rat’s ass.

Short for ‘Good Christian Belles’ (or ‘B*tches,’ depending on which of
the former titles you prefer), the ladies in this primetime soap all
seem to rely on the men in their life to finance their Texas-sized
wardrobes and larger-than-life shopping habits, which is unfortunate.
And the one whose husband is out of the picture resorts to working at a
‘Hooters’-esque establishment to make ends meet. Not unforgivable, but a
    little too easy.

Good for you Ron. It’s a huge waste of time and focus just as you say.

What’s surprising is there is no add asking if there is a guy called, Barrack Obama, who may have been elected president. Being present, doesn’t count, as actually being a president.

Paul slammed Fox pretty well:  ”insignificant, silly things.. we don’t spend a whole lot of time on them.”

Meanwhile Fox can’t stop dwelling on it.

  • Anonymous

Paul’s point was it’s silly to even bring it up.

  • http://aimeslee.blogspot.com/ Scrapette Jones

My bet is on the Bushies for paying, errr, urging, the whackadoodle to publish the ad. Having read the original story in the paper where the ad was posted (can’t remember the name for sure now, was it the Texas Observer?), the dude is just a little too obsessed still with Slick Willy/Hillary hate. True Paulians couldn’t care less as in, that’s so yesterday. This also reeks of Karl Rovian escapades when he was first starting out in Austin. Add in a little Larry Flynt copy-catting, also a trait of Rove’s (copy-catting). My initial retort to the ad recruiting strippers was, I have two words for this: Duke LaCrosse.

  • alberto

Who the hell reads ads in the newspaper anymore? that like asking all presidential candidates to watch their supporters comments in the internet which get a lot more views… I’m surprised they even invited him in Fox News. There for a sec I actually thought they were going to talk about our country’s issues…

I am sicken and disgusted by some of the comments made about Ron Paul, and you idiots want another GW Bush in office? Rick Perry Ah that    Rick Perry who went to the bilderberg meeting in 2007?

And i assume all of you here just love the war monger John McCain it really sickens me to no end, want more wars? hm i think we had enough, as for if you want the chinese troops in america? lol what planet do you live on torchie4269?

There are well more over then 1,000 american bases stationed   worldwide for what? there is no need for those bases.

And just how many bases does china have around the world? None america has more then anyone else, and with the pro western rebels in libya, Libyas government who will be a puppet will surely welcome american bases in libya as King Idrs did in the 1950.

Ron Paul is the only hope america has but since by the numbers of the comments your all pro war as it seems, and spent to much time watching MOSFOX News,

Americans are getting tried of the same governments every 4 years, every 4 years its either bill Clintons war, bush war, obamas war.

Well? Its time to wake up and face the reality 48 million of americans are on foodstamps, for all we know there could be more then just 48 M.

It seems that all elections are rigged, i mean seriously grow up people.

Just because the guy that placed the ad SAID he was a Paul supporter, doesn’t mean he was. It could have been an Obama supporter just saying that to put some stink on Ron Paul, in fact, that kind of tactic is straight out of ACORNS Saul Alinsky playbook for radicals. Wouldn’t surprise me one bit.

  • Brianm957

You the real man, Titzy. These nutso peaceniks don’t know what real men do. They kill, kill, kill, kill and kill some more, and we don’t need no stinkin reason, USA, USA! Now thats sanity.

Jeez, you’re a piece of work. A Ron Paul supporter didn’t ask Ron Paul ANYTHING, shit-for-brains. A FOX reporter did. A Ron Paul supporter asked THE PUBLIC for info on Rick Perry. So you obviously didn’t understand what you read.
Anyone that disagrees with you is immediately subjected to your name calling, and I’m a troll? And the child thing. Do you think that makes you clever, or appear grown up? It doesn’t, it makes you look like a petty little bitch. Which I am sure you are. The only embarrassment I feel is that you are considered to be in the same species as I. You are an embarrassment to the few reasonable, rational conservatives who cruise this site. You clearly only visit here to pick fights which you think you win by calling people child, or son. You’re really quite the little bully, at least when you can do so anonymously. Thats probably cause you’re compensating for being a pencil necked weakling with a tiny little penis. You can’t win a fight on the playground, so you come here and act like a tough guy. FU, ya punk.

Yeah, and a Beatle’s fan is the one who shot John Lennon. It doesn’t mean they questioned Paul McCartney about it. The media was trying to stir up controversy with Paul so they can quote him later with an opportunity to use against him. It didn’t work.

  • reader3

I’ll bet you’re not such a jack ass in person. I’ll bet you wouldn’t dare argue face to face. I’ll bet if we were sitting in a bar you wouldn’t be such a dick. Cause if you were, I’d have my girlfriend – or one of the kids- kick your smarmy ass. It doesn’t surprise me at all that you watch cartoons, do you also ride a Big Wheel? Or do you lean more toward Hello Kitty? You can’t speak to the issues raised by Glum ( I guess they’re above you’re limited intellect), so you make your little smart ass comments instead. You are sooooo clever.

Oops, almost forgot to use the word child. Wow, that one really hits you where it hurts, huh? Mine must be the superior intellect, cause I called you child…

The candidate’s staff does the research, they also employ clipping services to monitor nationwide newspapers and periodicals for anything in print linked to the candidate’s name.  So, Paul may not be telling the truth or his staff may not have informed him, I doubt that though, imo, he was dodging the question.  He could have chastised the supporter that put out the ad, if his concern was issues as he stated.

I don’t even think that moron IS a Ron Paul “supporter”. No supporter of individual liberty, self-responsibility, and private property–the essence and substance of Dr. Paul’s platform and ideas–would EVER put such filth on the internet, still less involve our hero, and his Presidential campaign in it!

Supporter? Where? Ending our troop commitments overseas? Auditing and abolishing the FED? Repeal the Federal Government’s odious antidrug laws, and ending their war-on-drugs? Re-legalizing the use of gold and silver as money, and ending the doomsday monopoly of paper “money” greenback Federal Reserve notes and their threatened hyperinflation through overissue? When, and where, has he been a supporter of Ron Paul?

As a supporter, he is worthless. Let him support President Obama’s re-election bid, or even better, the Stupid Party challenger of his choice, EXCEPT for Ron Paul!
