SNL40: Eddie Murphy Makes Awkward Return for First Time in 31 Years
After a passionate introduction from Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy made his triumphant return to SNL Sunday night for the first time more than 30 years after he left the cast.
Rather than reprising any of his classic character, Murphy graciously accepted his standing ovation and gave a short, sincere speech about what the show meant to him. “This show is such a big part of who I am and my life and I am so happy to be back here, and it’s just a magical feeling,” he said.
The the comedian got a little lost and joked, “Let’s do it again” before they cut him off. Frankly, it was pretty damn awkward.
