Tracking Conan’s Twitter Tracker
Last night, Conan O’Brien ran his fourth Twitter Tracker segment since he took the reins of The Tonight Show. As always, he did not disappoint:
Aside from bringing the lolz with hyperbolic graphics and a Brawndo-fueled announcer, the segment is great because it manages to winningly bring Twitter to the small screen. This is no mean feat, even if it takes giant cow udders and exploding birds to do it. And though Conan was criticized (maybe a little shrilly) for trashing Twitter early on, the bit’s become better and more unpredictable over time: last night’s Twitter Tracker managed to squeeze a shoutout to the Iranian protesters between the vapid celebrity tweets.
Conan had better watch his back, though: as of this posting, The Tonight Show’s viral, caps lock-lovin’ TW1TTERTRACKER handle has almost as many followers as Conan himself.
