Wendy Davis Strikes Back at Bristol Palin: ‘With All Due Respect…’
Reality TV personality Bristol Palin had some harsh words for State Senator and candidate for Texas governor Wendy Davis (D-TX) last week, tweeting and blogging about recent attacks on Davis’ early personal life. On Monday, Fusion’s Jorge Ramos asked Sen. Davis to respond to Palin’s comments, which included calling her “pathetic,” and Davis obliged.
“With all due respect to Miss Palin, of course, nothing that was said in that tweet is true,” Davis said. “I am very proud of the mother that I have been to my daughters. I have always been, and will always be, the most important female in their life.”
Ramos also asked about recent questions raised about her bio. “The accusation is that you are misleading voters with your personal story,” Ramos said.
Sen. Davis called that charge “absurd,” and added “My life story is my life story. I am a young woman who had lived in poverty for many years before I was able to work and lift myself out of that place, and I know that there are Texans across the state that are facing the same challenges that I once faced.”
The Dallas Morning News published an article quibbling with the duration of Davis’ residence at a trailer park, and with the fact that she was separated from her first husband at age 19, and wasn’t divorced until she was 21.
Here’s the clip, from Fusion’s America with Jorge Ramos:
