Whoopi Goldberg Gets Bleeped Arguing Herman Cain’s Private Life Isn’t Politically Relevant

video

With the pressure hitting the Herman Cain campaign increasing as his sexual harassment accusations give way to new philandering claims, the debate over whether his personal failings should matter in politics was the topic du jour at The View. Somewhat surprisingly, it was Whoopi Goldberg who seemed to care the least about his personal life, noting that “as long as you are not boning the country,” she didn’t mind the action on the side. And with that, Goldberg got bleeped, and finally has something in common with Ann Coulter.

While Sherri Shepherd found something of his character to be in question given the allegations, Goldberg and Elisabeth Hasselbeck argued that it is possible to be a good businessperson without being a good person in a moral way. “A relationship with another person is vastly different than running a country,” Goldberg argued, “you’re having problems in your relationship, you need to see a therapist… as long as you’re not [bleep]ing the country…”

At that the table erupted in laughter before continuing the debate, citing Presidents in the past with moral failings and Hasselbeck proposing a Gingrich-esque question: “Can you have two loves? Maybe they love business so much they can’t exactly be faithful,” a remark with spurs Goldberg into song.

I think we as a country need to adjust our priorities in terms of politician’s sex lives.

I’m no fan of Cain in the least, but let’s be honest; being a pervert doesn’t suddenly negate the ability for a politician to properly lead.

Cain accuser Sharon Bialek faces eviction

Tuesday afternoon, Cook County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the
Glenview townhome where Bialek has been living with her teenage son.
County authorities attempted to serve an eviction notice on her,
although she wasn’t there to accept it.

    According to a
sheriff’s spokesman, the action is a forcible eviction for non-payment
of rent filed by her landlord, $7,500 that Bialek owes in back rent.

I find it curious that Ms. Hassebeck essentially confirmed what Rush Limbaugh was saying on his show yesterday; that you do not have to be a good person in order to be a good businessman. We should be more motivated by Greed as opposed to altruism or real charity. This is a 180 degree change from the DeMint School of conservatism that argues that morality is a key piece of the GOP’s platform. I guess with the ascent of Gingrich morality is no longer an important element. As we witness with Cain conservatives are more angry at his lack of crisis management ability than his alleged affairs-they are upset that he was not able to effectively deal with the allegations. What this proves is that the GOP is still not ready to lead-yes they want to beat President Obama at any cost even if that means sacrificing their own morality to do so.

Seriously Whoopi, I expected more from you.  Hasselbeck, not so much.  And by the way, the right’s annoying habit of conflating government with business is just stupid.  Government is not a business.  Period.  Now, it is the right that has been so pious and beating their morality over the heads of everyone else for years.  Now that they have two serial adulterers running on their side, suddenly it’s not a negative?  They are completely delusional.

  • Anonymous

Right, because if a man isn’t honest with his FAMILY, that doesn’t mean he’ll screw you?  It’s all about character and integrity and Cain and Newt couldn’t sniff either!  I suppose Republicans would lower their standards…if they actually had any!

CAIN:  I will “defend the sacred institution of marriage against liberals who want to destroy it”.

Herbert is the one who made it relevant.

Former Business Partner: Ginger White Never Mentioned Herman Cain

The female bodybuilder who once ran a bicycle business with latest Herman Cain accuser Ginger White says the Atlanta woman never mentioned the Republican presidential candidate, who she says was her lover for 13 years.

“His name has never come up,” said Kimberly Vay, who told ABC News that she and White were former business partners.

But Vay, who filed and won a libel lawsuit against White, refused to
comment directly when asked whether she considers White’s accusations
about Cain credible. “When you see the details of my lawsuit,” said Vay,
“they will speak for themselves.” She then referred ABC News to her
    attorney.

According to Vay’s suit, which was filed in June 2011, White and Vay
were partners in a fitness coaching business called No Limit Cycling,
and held spinning classes inside the Martin Luther King Recreation
Center, which is owned by the City of Atlanta. In November 2010,
claimed Vay, White asked to end their partnership, with White continuing
to operate No Limit Cycling, and Vay agreed.

Herman Cain lawyer Lin Wood refuses to rule out legal action against accuser

Embattled presidential candidate Herman Cain ’s personal lawyer, Lin
Wood, said in an interview Tuesday that he believes his client is
telling the truth that he did not have a 13-year-affair with an Atlanta
    woman named Ginger White.

Wood, who said that Cain has not made a decision yet about whether to
stay in the race, said he doesn’t expect his client to address the
controversy again in public because there is nothing more to say beyond
his denial. Instead, Wood expects Cain to focus on his schedule of
campaign events and on making a decision about his political future,
which Cain said he would do by the end of the week.

Wood has not ruled out advising Cain to take legal action against
White, who, in an interview on the Atlanta Fox News affiliate Monday,
alleged that she and Cain were in an intimate relationship for more than
    a decade.

“That’s a decision that can be made down the road,” Wood said. “I
think the immediate consideration is to focus on his family and his
campaign. There’s no rush to take legal steps.”

Cain is a victim of the Donald Segretti types at the DNC.  And what is so “surprising” about seeing Whoopi a little turned off at the political lynching?

Too bad it wasn’t thousands more in back child support. The Tea Party could elect her to Congress.

You’re correct that government and business are not the same. Still , certain skills, the management of resources and people can overlap.
I happen to agree that the ability to lead and govern is not necessarily connected to your personal life. That said, a consensual affair between adults than being sexually aggressive toward employees.

I also think that among marriages of money and position you can find arrangements of open marriage that  don’t set well with politics, especially when you’re the party of “family values”
What seems ironic to me is that it was the right who decided to make politicians personal lives an issue. They also spent decades courting the religious right, willing to disregard science and the constitution in their pursuit of “righteousness” Now both of those things have come back to bite them.

never watched an episode of this show but i think it’s safe to assume that whoopi was a good replacement for rosie o’donnell

  • Anonymous

Anyone would have been a good replacement for Rosie. She’s the most vile piece of trash on the face of the planet… Well, maybe it’s a toss up between her and Janean Garofalo.

They are missing the real point. It’s not Herman Cain’s sex life that is politically irrelevant,it’s Herman Cain that’s politically irrelevant,he never was and never will be.

That said us Americans are a fickle bunch. If (pardon me for a brief fantasy) had an effective successful popular and just really good president,we wouldn’t care if he slept with every woman on the planet. He could grope the statue of liberty and pinch Abe Lincoln’s butt,as long as things were going well and the guy was actually doing a good job…

But since all we get are the bottom of the barrel scrapings as candidates, the sex life issue becomes somehow meaningful and important to the point of drowning out real issues.

Yes there is a morality play here too,and that does have meaning, but not politically.

  • Rex derWunderGott

Absolutely correct. As Ms. Ginger White (which may not even be here real name, but rather her porn star name – eg like G-D, whose porn name is either that or Condi Poutine) explained, this was exciting fun for her, and one would be inclined to think, somewhat more pleasurable than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick for her very own Fabio of the pizza crust set, as well.

So what we should do is with the French on this one, and grant each pol one free affair, so long as there’s no assault or other coercion involved. We could even grant positive pointage to a candidate’s electoral score so long as his affair score is clean; and it doesn’t even having to be clean so long as it’s consensual.

Unfortunately, even granting maximum marks for this l’Affair Gingair, Creepy still has yet to deal with the 3, or 4, separate allegations of unwanted sexual harassment and in at least one instance possible criminal assault, not to mention this ill-conceived reenactment of the Bill Clinton “I did not have sex with that woman” move – unless this is a joke and he’s really being post-ironic or gone dada.

sorry – after the Republicans decided that affairs were an impeachable offense, they have to play by their rules. If their guys sleep around, we get to criticize them as hypocrites.

so, basically, conservatism is just a bunch of pseudo-philosophical b.s made up to justify being a self-centered jerk who screws people over.
yeah, that worked out real well for everyone at Don Blankenship’s Upper Big Branch mine, didn’t it?

    …Was that ever the truth.

It’s sounds like Limbaugh’s corrupt version of the Hippocratic Oath.

Although, being morally bankrupt doesn’t generally work very well long term, when dealing with people or countries.

KNOW YOUR NEIGHBORS! Anyone posting that Whoppie should shut up, or what does she know or that she is stupid, is a dolt. The person who refuses to see honest hardcore reality in front of their face is too dumb to define. For the almost too stupid to be allowed to vote I give you an easy fact-to-point-to-fact:
Herman Cain had an affair – Herman Cains support drops – is it because of his private sexcapades? – CAN’T BE BECAUSE – NEWT GINGRICH SUPPORT RISES!! – Newt Gingrich had TWO affairs (that we know about).
So Newts rise supports Whoppie. See how easy that is? Now Cain Dance buffoons! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bs7fJ6jAOVU&feature=youtube_gdata_player

  • Ricci Dats Me

Yup!! Herman Cain is the only man, wealthy or not, who has ever had an affair! Did you notice the GOP front runner? Did you look at how nicely HE treats marriage? Dance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bs7fJ6jAOVU&feature=youtube_gdata_player

  • Anonymous

Whoopi is just making excuses, because she knows that Herman goes for white blonds!  Elizabeth Hasselbeck would be his first choice!

  • Anonymous

Buckwheat Goldberg is irrelevant except on CNN and Mediaite….both of which are also irrelevant.

  • Anonymous

There are motel and cell phone records that tell a different story.  However, the reason Herman Cain’s extra marital affair would even be a problem is that he has made part of his campaign “family values and marriage”.
Live by the sword – die by the sword.

  • Anonymous

No, Herman Cain isn’t the only one who has had an affair, but if you are stating “I will defend the sacred institution of marriage against liberals who want to destroy it” and then it is found out that you have been having an affair for 13 years, it seems that it isn’t the liberals who are destroying it but the lying philandering Herman Cain.

  • Anonymous

Just because she is being evicted for not paying her rent doesn’t mean she lied about the sexual harassment of Herman Cain.  So, what is your point?

  • Joke Scareborough

Whew…good thing Baba Wawa was able to skip this discussion, eh?
