James Biden, the younger brother of President Joe Biden, was asked if his nephew Hunter Biden smoked crack at the White House during a frantic media scrum.

Biden arrived to the O’Neill House building on Capitol Hill Wednesday to give closed-door testimony as part of the impeachment inquiry against the president. The younger Biden had previously been subpoenaed back in November for a deposition before the impeachment inquiry was formalized by the House.

Republican lawmakers are investigating the president over allegations that he used his influence while in office to benefit his family’s overseas business ventures. James and Biden’s son, Hunter, worked together on the family’s business ventures.

As James entered the O’Neill building to speak with lawmakers, someone in the scrum could be heard shouting, “Did Hunter smoke crack at the White House?”

The question references a July 2023 scandal when Secret Service discovered a small plastic bag containing less than a gram of powder cocaine in the White House. Following an investigation, the Secret Service was unable to determine if the substance was left by a White House staff member or visitor.

Far-right pundits and MAGA influencers have suggested that the president’s son was responsible for the incident due to his history of drug and alcohol abuse.
