How the Obamas Celebrated Memorial Day Weekend

This weekend, the Obamas celebrated Memorial Day in Washington, D.C. On Saturday night, according to the Associated Press, President Obama, Michelle Obama, and their daughter Malia went to dinner at José Andrés‘s restaurant Oyamel which is located in downtown Washington, D.C.

We may be reaching here, but is it possible that the Obamas chose this restaurant of all D.C. restaurants in tacit solidarity against Donald Trump? Andrés has made headlines recently because he’s feuding with the presumptive Republican Presidential nominee. Following Trump’s comments about Mexican immigrants being “rapists” and “criminals,” Andrés pulled his restaurant project from the Trump Hotel that’s being opened in D.C. Trump sued Andrés, and Andrés is now countersuing. It’s no secret that Obama and Trump aren’t exactly friends, so maybe, just maybe Obama was making a statement.

Of course, it could also just be that Andrés’s restaurants are really, really good and the Obamas just wanted to eat a great dinner. The chef operates nearly every major hot spot in D.C.
