Sam Kass Dishes On What The First Family Eats (Hint: Not Dog)
Is there anything more adorable than some little kid raising their hand and asking the President’s personal chef what the Obamas eat every day? Especially when said Sam Kass is reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar to about a hundred school-aged children?
Kass, who was at a Let’s Read! Let’s Move! event (run by the Department of Education to make sure that kids are actually doing something productive with their summers) with the President’s personal trainer Cornell McClellan, told the children that Mr. and Mrs. Obama, along with Sasha and Malia, eat “lots of vegetables including broccoli, spinach, green beans, brown rice, fish and chicken,” according to the AP. (Silly AP! Fish and chicken aren’t vegetables!)
And yes, they do like to sit down as a family to the occasional burger and pizza, but Kass insists that most of the time,”we have some very balanced meals.”
Then Sam Kass ran around a parking lot filling a tiny, child-sized shopping cart with fake food, which is, no matter where you fall politically, kind of an awesome thing for a grown man to do.
