Secretary of State Antony Blinken deleted a statement on X calling for a cease-fire in Israel amid widespread outcry over it on Monday morning.

“Turkish Foreign Minister @HakanFidan and I spoke further on Hamas’ terrorist attacks on Israel. I encouraged Tükiye’s advocacy for a cease-fire and the release of all hostages held by Hamas immediately,” wrote Blinken on Sunday night.

The post was pilloried for the implication that Israel should not continue its counter-attack after the mass murder, rape, and kidnapping of its civilians by Hamas.

The Biden Administration is showing its true colors. Once Israel indicated it was going on offense into Gaza, Blinken encourage a cease-fire,” observed Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL).

“Utter cowardice. Would you have called for a cease fire after Pearl Harbor? Probably,” commented HotAir’s Ed Morrissey.

“‘Ceasefire’? Secretary of State Blinken is out to lunch,” argued the Hudson Institute’s Mike Doran. “Israel is mobilizing for war, precisely as the United States mobilized after 9/11. Could some mediator have called President Bush on 9/13/2001, and said, ‘George, let’s consider a ceasefire’? This is just nuts.”

“If you ‘both sides’ this…if you ‘but [insert fault history]’ this…if you ‘it’s time for a ceasefire’ this…YOU are part of the problem,” declared Ben Shapiro.

“Holy shit, the Biden administration is already calling for a ‘cease-fire.’ I didn’t think they could be THIS disgusting and heartless. But here we are,” remarked Washington Free Beacon contributor Noah Pollak.

Blinken’s post marked the second since-deleted statement in which the Biden administration has suggested Israel stand down.

On Saturday, the U.S. Office of Palestinian Affairs called on “all sides to refrain from violence and retaliatory attacks” on X. The post was later deleted.
