WATCH: Ex-Trump Lawyer Sidney Powell Pleads Guilty in Election Crimes Trial
Former Trump lawyer Sidney Powell pled guilty in the Georgia election interference case brought forth by Fulton County DA Fani Willis.
Powell appeared in a Georgia courtroom where she pled guilty to six misdemeanor counts, including racketeering, on Thursday, just one day before her trial was set to begin. A chief architect of former President Donald Trump’s attempt to claim the 2020 election was stolen, and promiser of a “Kraken” that was never delivered, Powell is the biggest name to agree to a plea deal yet according to CNN’s Zachary Cohen, who shared the news via social media post on Thursday morning.

While Powell received no jail time as part of the plea deal, CNN’s Marshall Cohen reported that she will have to testify at future trials in the case and write a letter of apology to the people of Georgia.
In addition to those conditions, she was sentenced to six years probation, a $6,000 fine and $2,700 in restitution.
The Atlanta Constitution Journal’s Tamar Hallerman reports that Powell pleads guilty to “six counts of conspiracy to commit intentional interference with performance of election duties.”
