Two Dead, Multiple People Wounded in Shooting at Dallas ICE Facility

Three people have been wounded in a Wednesday morning shooting outside of an ICE facility in Dallas, Texas, according to local reports.

WFAA reported that police responded to the shooting on Wednesday morning and found one shooter dead at the scene, but they are searching for another sniper or multiple shooters. The facility is located off of I-35E near Empire Central.

Local reports, including from WFAA, indicated the wounded were in “critical condition,” but more details about the victims were not yet available. NBC News confirmed through an ICE spokesperson that two are dead from the shooting and that the multiple people shot were detainees. No officers were reportedly injured.

Dallas’ Fox 4 reported that the shooter was a sniper armed with a rifle who was found dead on the roof of a nearby building. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem took to social media and confirmed reports that the suspected shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. She said there were “multiple injuries and fatalities” at the scene.

“There was a shooting this morning at the Dallas [ICE] Detention Facility. Details are still emerging but we can confirm there were multiple injuries and fatalities,” Noem wrote. “The shooter is deceased by a self-inflicted gun shot wound. While we don’t know motive yet, we know that our ICE law enforcement is facing unprecedented violence against them. It must stop. Please pray for the victims and their families.”

Dallas Police confirmed in a statement that the shooter is deceased, along with one victim. Two shooting victims were transported to the hospital.

“On September 24, 2025, at about 6:40 a.m., Dallas Police responded to an assist officer call in the 8100 block of north Stemmons Freeway. The preliminary investigation determined that a suspect opened fire at a government building from an adjacent building. Two people were transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds. One victim died at the scene. The suspect is deceased. This is an ongoing investigation, and we hold a media briefing later today,” the department wrote on X.

Vice President JD Vance responded to Noem’s post by calling out “obsessive” attacks against law enforcement.

“The obsessive attack on law enforcement, particularly ICE, must stop. I’m praying for everyone hurt in this attack and for their families,” he wrote.

Fox News’ Lawrence Jones and Griff Jenkins, citing sources, reported on Wednesday morning they were being told the shots began when ICE agents were unloading migrants from a transport to the facility.

Footage from outside the facility shows dozens of emergency and police vehicles in the area. FBI agents are reportedly en route to the scene.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) also took to social media to address the shooting.

“My team and I are closely monitoring the situation at the ICE Detention Facility in Dallas,” the senator wrote on X. “We are praying for the swift recovery of those injured, and we are deeply grateful to the brave first responders who rushed to the scene.”

This is a breaking story and it has been updated.
