Briefing Room Laughs at Peter Doocy Confronting Jean-Pierre About Rep. Bowman’s Fire Alarm Pull
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre had a humorous exchange with Fox News reporter Peter Doocy about the fire alarm incident involving Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) that got a laugh from the press corps.
Jean-Pierre and Doocy are known to spar when the former is at the podium, but when asked about Bowman’s stunt from Saturday, the press secretary smirked while she jokingly asked Doocy if he was referring to “something specific”:
Doocy: Would President [Joe] Biden ever try to get out of a meeting by pulling a fire alarm?
Jean-Pierre: Are you talking about something specifically?
Doocy: A Democratic member of Congress pulled the fire alarm around a series of votes. No fire. Is that appropriate?
Jean-Pierre: What I can tell you is, uh, I have not talked to or spoken to the president about this. And so, just not going, just not going to comment. I will leave it up to — I know there’s a House process moving forward right now, I leave it to the House.
Bowman was caught on camera at the Cannon House Office Building pulling the fire alarm while Democrats were trying to delay a vote on the 45-day stopgap spending bill to keep the federal government open. Maybe just a way to give his colleagues more time to read the bill.
