Charlamagne Roasts Education Secretary for Brutal Gaffes During House Hearing: ‘You Should Probably Know How to Count’

Charlamagne tha God on Thursday roasted Education Secretary Linda McMahon after she made a multitude of blunders at a House hearing.

The day before, McMahon appeared before the House Education and Workforce Committee for a hearing on the Department of Education’s priorities. Rep. Summer Lee (D-PA) asked McMahon if a series of subjects could be considered “illegal DEI” — a term frequently used by President Donald Trump’s administration. When asked if teaching students about the Tulsa race massacre was “illegal DEI,” McMahon refused to give a yes-or-no answer and even suggested she didn’t know enough on the subject.

Lee then asked if teaching students that Joe Biden won the 2020 election could also be characterized as “illegal DEI.” Again, McMahon refused to give a straight answer.

That came just a day after McMahon appeared at another hearing on her department’s budget request. During Tuesday’s hearing, she completely flubbed on a softball question asked by a Republican senator.

For that pair of brutal showings in front of multiple committees, Charlamagne dubbed her the “Donkey of the Day” on Thursday’s episode of The Breakfast Club.

“Linda, you can’t go in front of the Senate and get put in a ‘crippler crossface’ by basic math, OK?” Charlamagne said. “Linda can script The Undertaker coming back from the dead, but can’t script a coherent answer to how numbers work. I’m not saying everybody in government needs to be a genius, but if you’re going to run education, you should probably know how to count, and maybe — just maybe — understand a little bit of America’s history.

“I know that Linda McMahon being Secretary of Education is fantastic content for late-night talk show hosts and morning show radio hosts, but America, the implications for the nation’s education system are no laughing matter. Perhaps it’s time to consider whether the role of Education Secretary should require, at the very least, a firm grasp on elementary math,” he concluded.
