‘Chose Money Over Votes!’ Jesse Ventura Fumes About Being Snubbed as RFK’s VP
Former Minnesota Governor and wrestler Jesse “The Body” Ventura said that independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr “chose money over votes” by passing on him as choice of vice president.
In March, Kennedy Jr. announced Silicon Valley lawyer and philanthropist Nicole Shanahan as his running mate. Shanahan, 38, is the former wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin. Shanahan has never previously run for political office.
Ventura, on the other hand, served as Minnesota governor from 1999 to 2003, and is an outspoken advocate for marijuana legalization. Rumors circulated this year that Ventura was among over six other individuals optioned as Kennedy Jr’s vice presidential pick — including New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Footage of Ventura talking politics was captured by YouTuber Andrew Ryan at an event in Lanesboro, Minnesota, where the former wrestler was touring to promote his THC edibles business Retro Bakery, a business associated with Jesse Ventura Farms. Ryan posted the video to his channel Monday, which went viral online.
Armed with a mic and sitting behind a stall, Ventura said: “I had a visitor in Tucson this winter, and apparently I came in second. Robert F. Kennedy came and visited me for three hours.”
He continued: “I’ll say this, personally, I think Bobby made the wrong choice, because he could have put me up there as an example. They can be beat. They can be beat. He chose money over votes, I guess, because his running mate’s filthy rich!”
