Death of Senate Trailblazer Dianne Feinstein Sparks Reactions From World of Media and Politics
The sad passing of California Democrat and progressive trailblazer Sen. Dianne Feinstein on Friday sent shockwaves through the world of politics and media, not just over the loss of an historic liberal icon or the shake-up to the power balance in the Senate, but by way of the immediate reactions on social media.
As with any major news in media and politics, the reactions of course ranged from good to bad and all the in between. And like any time a politician dies, some were opportunistic, some were partisan pitches, and some were just plain ugly.
Naturally, among those remarking were fellow politicians from both sides of the aisle, and representative samples of all of those varieties are included below in no particular order.
.@POTUS: "Senator Dianne Feinstein was a pioneering American. A true trailblazer. And for Jill and me, a cherished friend."https://t.co/TrRraxpMJz

My memory of Dianne Feinstein will always be when she was on the floor of the Senate during the financial crisis, and the Brown-Vitter amendment to break up the big banks came up. "This is America, isn't it?" she said, and gave a thumbs down. https://t.co/bOPTSZEh8f

RIP to Senator Feinstein. May her memory be a blessing.
My favorite Feinstein moment was her telling off a bunch of kids being used by climate activists to try to guilt Senators into bad policy: pic.twitter.com/fzso9laPJp

It's not an exaggeration to say that Feinstein is one of the most important political figures in modern American history. No woman has served longer in the Senate, and few women have played as significant a role in the nation's politics. RIP https://t.co/Il6XkBieXP

I'm deeply saddened by the passing of Dianne Feinstein. She blazed trails for women in politics and found a life's calling in public service. I'll miss her greatly as a friend and colleague and send my condolences to all who loved her.

R.I.P. to Dianne Feinstein. I very much wish she had taken time to enjoy retirement. Her replacement — either appointed or eventually elected — will be worse.

This is a sad day for California and the nation.
Sen. Feinstein was a champion for our state, and served as the voice of a political revolution for women.
My profound condolences go out to her family and loved ones.

Sen. Feinstein cared about her country and her state. We didn’t agree politically, but she was a delight to serve with. I so valued our friendship and am praying for all of her loved ones.https://t.co/UYuysmNnoK

The way democrats forced her to spend her last days rolling around the Capitol, so she can pretend she was voting, is disgraceful. https://t.co/8JXKMYfYLE

As you've heard, Dianne Feinstein has passed away. And, of course, the media jumps right into the politics — who will replace her, what will Gavin Newsom do, Newsom promised to appoint a black woman, etc. And how she was a "moderate" — how the media build up Democrats the way…

With the sad passing of Senator Feinstein, the reality is Democrats just lost the majority in the Senate.
With all due respect to her and her service to the county, the reality is we need to replace her as soon as possible.
Normal times would call for restraint and to wait,… pic.twitter.com/5GHKtrfu0m

Dianne Feinstein was forced to remain in the senate until she died because Republicans are absolutely trash human beings (they won't allow a replacement for her on the judicial committee) and people are acting like it was her fault.
RIP, Senator, and thank you.

If you want proof that Democrats only care about the exercise of raw power, just look at their forced march of the sick, elderly Dianne Feinstein

A lesson for every geriatric in the Senate
You can go with dignity and spend last days with family/friends or you can wither away before the eyes of the world and tarnish any legacy you may have once had https://t.co/cMaUsIZIiS
