Dick Durbin Plays Supercut of Trump’s ‘Cognitive Decline’ at Hearing on Biden’s Mental Acuity
Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) unveiled a supercut of President Donald Trump’s “cognitive decline” as he spoke during a Senate hearing investigating former President Joe Biden’s mental acuity and its possible cover-up.
Durbin, the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, began by chiding his Republican colleagues for not holding a single oversight hearing “despite numerous critical challenges facing the nation that are under our jurisdiction” — pointing to the shooting of two Democratic lawmakers in Minnesota, the brutal removal of Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) by federal agents, and President Trump’s deployment of the Marines and National Guard in Los Angeles.
“But instead of exercising this constitutional oversight duty, my Republican colleagues are holding this hearing. Apparently, armchair diagnosing former President Biden is more important than the issues of grave concern, which I have mentioned.”
Durbin later turned to a recent gaffe by Trump during the G7 meeting in Alberta, Canada, during which he fumbled trade agreement papers and erroneously claimed the U.K. was part of the European Union.
“Now I’d like you to see a short video that includes some other examples of cognitive ability,” Durbin said as he introduced a clip featuring multiple examples of Trump misspeaking or fumbling his words.
Among them were these one-liners:
- “The windmills are driving the whales crazy, obviously.”
- “I have concepts of a plan.”
- “They’re eating the dogs, the people that came in. They’re eating the cats. They’re eating.”
- “The kidney has a very special place in the heart.”
- “And then I see the disinfectant that knocks [COVID-19] out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside, or almost a cleaning.”
- “This is a tough hurricane, one of the wettest we’ve ever seen from the standpoint of water.”
