Elon Musk’s Brother Slams JD Vance Over Support for Tariffs: ‘Republicans for Higher Prices’

Kimbal Musk, the younger brother of billionaire and top Trump administration adviser Elon Musk, called out Vice President JD Vance for championing tariffs despite their adverse effects on “under-served communities” on Wednesday.

Musk’s rebuke came after Vance mused that “It’s bizarre to see all the limousine socialists screech desperately for dependence on Chinese supply chains and inflated equities.”

“Like, an actual talking point on the left two months ago was ‘Trump’s policies exist to enrich Elon Musk,'” continued Vance. “Also, to be fair, they also really love illegal immigrant labor and despise deporting criminals.”

Despite the veep’s invocation of his brother, the younger Musk still made a point of criticizing Vance for his defense of President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariffs.

“Republicans for higher prices. How about that,” commented Musk. “This Trump tariff-tax has driven prices for every day goods through the roof.”

“@JDVance I read your book. It’s good,” he added. “I’d think you’d have more sympathy for your community’s cost of living. Inflation sucks for everyone, but it especially hits our under-served communities the most.”

He isn’t the only member of his family to harshly denounce Trump’s trade policy. In spite of his prominent role in the administration, the elder Musk has called for a free trade zone between the U.S. and Europe and launched a series of scathing attacks on Trump trade adviser Peter Navarro, whom he’s called a “moron” and “Peter Retarrdo.”

Vance, who once accused Trump of being a sexual predator and likened his future boss to Adolf Hitler, used to agree with the Musk brothers on trade.

“Can’t be repeated enough: if you’re worried about America’s economic interest, focus more on automation/education than trade protectionism,” wrote Vance in one 2017 tweet.
