Former House Republican Mia Love’s Cancer ‘Not Responding to Treatment,’ Family Says Former CNN Contributor Being Made ‘Comfortable’

The daughter of former Republican congresswoman Mia Love announced Saturday that her mother was losing her battle with cancer and the family would spend her final days enjoying what time they could with her.

According to her family, doctors for the former lawmaker and TV mainstay found her cancer was not responding to treatment, and a decision was made to ensure she was comfortable instead.

“Hello Friends, I’m Mia’s daughter Abigale. Many of you are aware that Mom has been fighting GBM brain cancer,” Abigale posted from her mother’s X account Saturday morning.

The daugher continued, “Sadly her cancer is no longer responding to treatment and the cancer is progressing. We have a shifted our focus from treatment to enjoying our remaining time with her. I am building an archive of special memories with Mia. Please send your pictures, videos and memories to me at MiaLoveMemories@gmail.com. Thank you.”

Love, 49, was a member of the House from 2015 to 2019 and spent time as a rotating guest at the table on ABC’s The View.

She was also a CNN contributor and spoke to network anchor Jake Tapper about her cancer diagnosis last year. Love said she had accepted the diagnosis of a glioblastoma but would not accept the prognosis.

Those diagnosed with the highly-aggressive form of brain cancer only have a five-year survival rate of 6.9 percent, according to the National Brain Tumor Society.

After revealing her cancer diagnosis to Tapper, Love took to her Facebook page to offer a message of hope:

I recently shared details of my cancer journey with my friend Jake Tapper. It hasn’t been an easy journey, but I share it because I want my journey to give others hope.

Whether you are facing a cancer diagnosis yourself, or fighting a different battle, there is hope! For me, that hope comes from my faith and my family. Both have been a source of immeasurable strength, peace, love, and support. Every day, I thank God for my life and a family who give that life beauty and meaning.
