Fox News’ Tyrus Blames Cheap Airline Tickets for Causing Travel Meltdowns

Fox News contributor Tyrus claimed that cheap airline tickets are to blame for unruly passengers wreaking havoc on packed flights.

Tyrus was part of the panel discussing Labor Day travel on Fox News’s America’s Newsroom on Friday morning.

“I think the biggest thing is that the cheaper the tickets, the least people act respectful,” Tyrus said. “I hate to say that. You hate to see things being pricey. When you have to pay for something and you’re not getting cheap tickets, you tend to act right.”

He continued:

It seems to be every time airlines have situations where guys get tickets for less than, it’s not worth it to them to behave. They dress — You see someone with cut-off sleeves and flip-flops on, chances are they’r gonna be, they’re way too comfortable on the flight.

We need to get back to dress accordingly, plan ahead. I travel all the time. I get to the airport two hours before my boarding time and plan for a delay. When it happens I’m good. But the biggest thing is, we have to make it to where you gotta raise ticket prices to stop this behavior.

Tyrus added, “Nobody wants to hear your FaceTime conversations. Headphone it up. I don’t need to see you talking to your loved one on FaceTime, okay? Put the headphones on.”

The Transportation Safety Administration says it’s prepared to screen 17.4 million people during what is expected to be the busiest Labor Day travel period on record.

One reason has to do with cheaper ticket prices. AAA reported “domestic round-trip flights are averaging $720 — down 6% from last year.

Labor Day travel is expected to run through Wednesday, September 4.
