Fox’s Ari Fleischer Trashes GOP Effort to Gerrymander Texas: ‘Even Politics Must Have Rules’

Fox News contributor Ari Fleischer called out the GOP’s effort to implement a new congressional map in Texas for being an unfair power grab.
In a post to X on Tuesday, the former press secretary for President George W. Bush spoke out against the GOP’s mid-decade redistricting plan — which would make five districts favorable to Republicans in areas currently represented by Democrats.
“I want to win 5 more seats in the House,” Fleischer wrote. “But mid-census change in Texas is not the way to do it. Even politics must have rules. Gerrymandering should be done once every ten years – by all states. Otherwise, there are no rules and it’s the equivalent of all-out, political wars all the time – simply to gain power.
“No state should gerrymander until 2032, including Texas. It’s fair to everyone this way. Even politics should be conducted in a fair manner.”
The venue for Fleischer’s comment was particularly notable, given he had not posted to X since July 12. Once omnipresent on the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Fleischer’s posts are now far more infrequent.
Democratic lawmakers have fled Texas to prevent the state House chamber from having a quorum. Warrants have been issued for their arrest, and Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) has asked FBI Director Kash Patel to help track down the lawmakers.
