House Democrat Loses It On Hegseth, Demands His Resignation: ‘You Should Just Get the Hell Out’

A California lawmaker ripped Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth as “an embarrassment” who “should just get the hell out” as the former Fox News morning show host dodged questions in a third day of grilling on Capitol Hill.
Rep. Salud Carbajal (D) made the shocking comments as Hegseth faced the House Armed Services Committee on Thursday.
As Carbajal asked whether political allegiance to Trump is a requirement for “serving our nation,” Hegseth smirked and dodged the question.
Upon further prodding, Hegseth dismissed the question as “silly,” and Carbajal could no longer hide his frustration.
“I’m not going to waste my time anymore,” Carbajal said. “You’re not worthy of my attention or my questions. You’re an embarrassment to this country. You’re unfit to lead and there’s been bipartisan members of Congress that have called for your resignation. You should just get the hell out and let somebody competently lead this department.”
After Carbajal’s rant, a congressman in the chamber asked, “Do we not have any decorum in here?” and stormed out, prompting committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-MI) to admonish the lawmaker.
“I would urge everybody to remember and maintain decorum suitable for this chamber for further comments,” Rogers said.
Read the exchange here:
SALUD CARBAJAL: Do you think political allegiance to Trump is a requirement for serving our nation either in uniform or a civilian in the department?
PETE HEGSETH: I’m incredbibly proud, as there are millions of Americans-
CARBAJAL: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Not today, Hegseth. Yes or no?
HEGSETH: Congressman, you know what a silly question that is.
CARBAJAL: Silly enough to warrant a straightforward answer. Yes or no?
HEGSETH: We all support and defend the Constitution of the United States-
CARBAJAL: I’m not going to waste my time anymore. You’re not worthy of my attention or my questions. You’re an embarrassment to this country. You’re unfit to lead and there’s been bipartisan members of Congress that have called for your resignation. You should just get the hell out and let somebody competently lead this department.
CONGRESSMAN: Mr. Chairman, do we not have any decorum in here?
CARBAJAL: Thank you very much. I yield my time.
MIKE ROGERS: The gentleman yields back, and I would urge everybody to remember and maintain decorum suitable for this chamber for further comments.
Hegseth has been facing questioning all week from lawmakers, marked by heated exchanges with Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-SC), Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), and Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), to name a few.
