‘I’m Done! I’m Done!’ Jasmine Crockett Rebuffs Fox Reporter Chasing Her Down Over ‘Hot Wheels’ Crack

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) rebuffed a Fox reporter who chased her down seeking an apology over her mockery of Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R-TX) wheelchair in a tense hallway confrontation.

Crockett took heavy criticism for calling Abbott “Governor Hot Wheels” — a clear reference to his disability. It wasn’t the first time the congresswoman made a similar crack.

Amid the blowback, Crockett then claimed not to have been referencing the wheelchair, but rather “the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors.”

On Wednesday, Fox Business Network correspondent Hillary Vaughn pursued Crockett through the halls of the Capitol on the way to Crockett’s office, aggressively questioning her for refusing to apologize.

Crockett repeatedly referred Vaughn to her statement, before finally shutting her down when they reached the office. The tape aired across several Fox News programs, including Thursday’s edition of Fox News Channel’s :

HILLARY VAUGHN: I saw your comment explaining your comment, calling Governor Abbott “Hot Wheels”–

REP. JASMINE CROCKETT: I put out a statement regarding that–.

HILLARY VAUGHN: But you didn’t apologize–.

REP. JASMINE CROCKETT: I put out a statement– why would apologize when I put out a statement? My statement was clear.

HILLARY VAUGHN: But you didn’t–.

REP. JASMINE CROCKETT: My statement was clear!

HILLARY VAUGHN: Wasn’t calling him governor my bills when he gets around in a wheelchair–. Don;t you see how that’s offensive–

REP. JASMINE CROCKETT: I don’t know how many times–.

HILLARY VAUGHN: –to people who have a disability?

REP. JASMINE CROCKETT: I don’t understand how many times you need me to repeat this to you!

HILLARY VAUGHN: Right but why won’t you apologize?

REP. JASMINE CROCKETT: I put out a statement.

HILLARY VAUGHN: That didn’t have an apology in it.

REP. JASMINE CROCKETT: So read my statement.

HILLARY VAUGHN: I did read it apology, it didn’t have an apology. You don’t feel bad about making fun of someone–.

REP. JASMINE CROCKETT: Well I’m done with this! I’m done! I’m done! I’m done with this!

HILLARY VAUGHN: –who is in a wheelchair, calling him governor Hot Wheels?

Crockett’s full statement read:

I wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition—I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors, deliberately stoking tension and fear among the most vulnerable.

Literally, the next line I said was that he was a “Hot A** Mess,” referencing his terrible policies. At no point did I mention or allude to his condition. So, I’m even more appalled that the very people who unequivocally support Trump—a man known for racially insensitive nicknames and mocking those with disabilities—are now outraged.
