Jasmine Crockett Hammers Trump on CNN Over Bombshell Epstein Emails
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) hammered President Donald Trump over the new, bombshell emails from deceased sex criminal and former Trump pal Jeffrey Epstein, telling CNN they show Epstein thought he had “leverage” over Trump.
Democrats on the House Oversight Committee dropped a bomb Wednesday morning with the release of emails that Epstein sent to accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell and author Michael Wolff that directly referenced Trump.
They feature Epstein alleging that “Of course he knew about the girls,” that Trump “spent hours at my house” with a victim that House Republicans claim was Virginia Roberts Giuffre, and a discussion of letting Trump “hang himself” with statements about their relationship.
On Wednesday’s edition of CNN’s The Situation Room, Rep. Crockett called Trump a “corrupt” and “criminal” president who must be hiding something, and that the emails clearly show “leverage” Epstein felt he could use against him:
PAMELA BROWN: We spoke to Marlin Stutzman earlier, he’s a Republican, and he tried to make the case that President Trump is the most investigated person in the world, and he has not been accused of any criminal wrongdoing here. What do you make of that?
REP. JASMINE CROCKETT (D-TX): Listen, they will do and say anything to cover themselves.
You know, I will admit that Donald Trump has been investigated more than the normal, but he just happens to be more corrupt and more criminal than any other president than we’ve had.
I will point out, he is the only president who has been convicted of 34 felony convictions that we’ve ever had in the Oval Office.
So while we don’t know exactly what crimes he may or may not have committed, just think of it this way. If you know that you didn’t do anything. Then why is it that you would be twisting members of your own party’s arms, trying to get them not to release it?
This would be exonerating. If you know that you are free and clear, then why not say, you know what, release the files?
In fact, he campaigned on releasing the files because he didn’t realize that anything that he was involved in whatsoever wasn’t involved in the files.
But let me tell you something, another thing that was said in that other email that he had with Michael Wolf was he was talking about if he wants to basically play hardball. Um, we will make mention of the fact that he really has been on the plane. And I don’t remember if it mentioned the island.
PAMELA BROWN: Let’s actually put that email up just so our viewers can fully understand what it says. I just hope the control room can put this email up.
It says, “I think you should let him hang himself,” and this is in response to a question of whether CNN would plan to ask Trump in a town hall about the relationship with Epstein. Epstein said how do we craft an answer for him.
And Michael Wolff says in this email “I think you shouldn’t let him hanging himself. If he says he hasn’t been on the plane or to the house then that gives you a valuable PR and political currency. You can hang him in a way that potentially generates a positive benefit for you. Or if it really looks like he could win, you could save him, generating a debt. Of course, it is possible that when asked, he’ll say Jeffrey is a great guy and has gotten a raw deal and is a victim of political correctness, which is to be outlawed in a Trump regime.”.
That’s the full email.
REP. JASMINE CROCKETT (D-TX): Yes, yes, yes. That is clear that Jeffrey Epstein had something to hang over his head.
Why else or how else could you have a debt that you are able to? Now exactly what it was, who knows, right?
And that’s what we’re trying to get to the bottom of. But the fact that Trump does not want these files to be out, to me says that he has more to hide than him actually being able to exonerate himself.
