Karoline Lashes Out at Democrats for Trying to ‘Embarrass’ Trump With Epstein Emails: ‘Fake Narrative!’
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt lashed out at Democrats on Wednesday, accusing them of pushing a false narrative with the media after bombshell emails written by late child sex predator Jeffrey Epstein about President Donald Trump dropped.
CNN’s Alayna Treene reported on Leavitt’s statement during Wednesday’s The Situation Room.
Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released the emails, one of which includes Epstein saying in 2011 that Trump, a former friend, “spent hours” with an alleged victim at his house. He also at one point said Trump “knew about the girls.” The president is not, however, being accused of any wrongdoing based on the emails.
Leavitt said Democrats “selectively” chose emails and leaked them to the media in an effort to “embarrass” the president.
“Karoline Leavitt really lashing out at Democrats and arguing that they’re selectively leaking some of these documents in order to try and embarrass the president. She writes, quote, ‘the Democrats selectively leaked emails to the liberal media to create a fake narrative to smear President Trump,'” Treene reported.
Leavitt noted that the redacted name in the emails is the late Virginia Giuffre, an alleged Epstein victim who long maintained she never saw Trump take part in Epstein’s crimes.
“They go on to argue things that we know they have in the past, which is that the president had long ago kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of his Mar-a-Lago club, calling him a creep and all of that that they have highlighted. And we should point out that one, Donald Trump has never been convicted or accused of really any wrong doing here by any victims,” Treene reported.
Epstein died of an apparent suicide in 2019 as he was facing sex trafficking charges. His longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell, who was receiving some of the emails in question, is currently serving 20 years for sex trafficking.
