Los Angeles Dodgers Deny ICE Agents Access to Stadium Amid Raids and Mass Protests in City

The Los Angeles Dodgers turned away Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents who showed up at their stadium in the Elysian Park neighborhood of the city on Thursday.

“This morning, ICE agents came to Dodger Stadium and requested permission to access the parking lots. They were denied entry to the grounds by the organization. Tonight’s game will be played as scheduled,” announced the team in a statement on social media Thursday afternoon.

UPDATE: The Department of Homeland Security later denied the claim, replying to the Dodgers’ post, “This had nothing to do with the Dodgers. CBP vehicles were in the stadium parking lot very briefly, unrelated to any operation or enforcement.”

The Dodgers’ statement came after videos and images of the agents in question outside of the stadium circulated online.

According to The Athletic, the team was “expected to announce their plans Thursday to assist immigrant groups affected by recent militarized raids in the city by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement.”

“Though it’s not immediately clear what the plans entail, this is expected to be the organization’s first official response to the raids, which have spawned massive protests throughout the United States,” reported The Athletic.

Protests against President Donald Trump and his efforts to fulfill his promise of carrying out mass deportations have been especially prominent in the Los Angeles.

Despite the outcry, there is evidence that Trump’s immigration policies remain broadly popular.

According to one recent poll, 49% of voters — including a quarter of those who voted for Kamala Harris in the 2024 election — approve of Trump’s approach to immigration, while just 33% disapprove.
