Journalist and former ABC newsman Mark Halperin has reported that President Donald Trump’s embattled National Security chief Mike Waltz will soon be out of a job.
Halperin made the shocking announcement in a clip for his YouTube show 2Way TV Thursday, saying that “the plan now by the White House” is to remove Waltz along with his deputy Alex Wong in a major shakeup at the agency, citing three sources.
“The plan is for it to happen soon, maybe this weekend,” he added.
Halperin said Trump special envoy Steve Witkoff was Waltz’s likely replacement.
Waltz was first embroiled in scandal in March when he inadvertently invited Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg to a signal chat in which he and other high-level Trump officials discussed an imminent strike on Houthi rebels in Yemen.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
