‘Of Course We Are’ At War: Former Acting Nat’l Security Advisor Bluntly Contradicts Biden Admin On Iran Strikes
When asked if the U.S. is at war with Iran, former acting national security advisor Gen. Keith Kellogg exclaimed, “Of course we are,” in direct contradiction to a statement made this week from Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.
Kellogg appeared on Fox News on Saturday, where anchor Anita Vogel played a clip of Austin saying, “We’re not at war with Iran. Our goal is to make sure that we take away — we continue to take away capability from the Houthis to do what they’ve been doing.”
Vogel asked Kellogg, “So, the United States is saying we don’t want a war, [Iran is] saying we will not start a war. Are we in a war with Iran already?”
“Of course we are. You know, if you don’t believe me, ask the parents of those three young Americans we lost. Ask about all of those strikes that have been on American facilities and American personnel. Of course,” Kellogg said, continuing:
It may not be a nuclear war, a full-scale war, but if people don’t consider this a war then they’ve never put on the uniform, they’ve never advised national security. Of course it’s a war. It’s a Sub Rosa war, a low-level war, but it’s a war, and you’ve got to make them stop. The only reason you make them stop is with a huge deterrent strike. That’s basically saying, “Done.”
You know, sometimes, you know Anita, you’ve got to put on your holster and stand in the middle of the street and say, “If you want to dance, let’s dance. Either stop it or you won’t stop it.” And you have to go down there. I understand the risks, and I understand what you have to do, and I understand it’s uncomfortable, but this nation is more important than a lot of things out there and you’ve got to say, “Our nation’s security and the security of our young men and women in uniform is paramount and we’re going to protect them, and protect our assets, and protect our national pride and what we do as a nation.”
“Do you expect that the administration will take a stronger step next?” Vogel asked.
“If they do that, something significant has happened. We’ve had a ship struck, a warship of ours, struck in the Persian Gulf or in the Red Sea, and then we’ll have to react very strongly, and that’s when people will need to say, “Wait a second, we knew this was going to happen, why didn’t you?” And it will happen, if something significant happens, otherwise, I see more of the same,” Kellogg said.
