Former Acting Director of the FBI Brian Driscoll was “clapped out of an FBI facility in Virginia as more than 200 people paid tribute,” MSNBC’s Ken Dilanian reported on Friday.

Driscoll, or “Drizz,” as he is sometimes called, was acting director for one month. During his brief tenure, Driscoll was directed by then-Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove to fire FBI agents involved in cases related to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. The directive came in a memo titled “Terminations.” Drizz refused.

On Thursday, it was reported that Driscoll was being ousted.

“Last night I was informed that tomorrow will be my last day in the FBI,” Driscoll wrote to colleagues in a report by Dilanian. “I understand that you may have a lot of questions regarding why, for which I currently have no answers. No cause has been articulated at this time.”

On Friday, Dilanian reported that Drizz was given a hero’s sendoff.

“Fired FBI executive Brian Driscoll was just clapped out of an FBI facility in Virginia as more than 200 people paid tribute,” Dilanian said. “‘People are pissed’ says a source.”

President Donald Trump has had a long-running feud with the FBI going back to the bureau’s days under James Comey, whom Trump fired in 2017 before the expiration of Comey’s 10-year term. Trump replaced Comey with Christopher Wray, another career FBI man who also drew Trump’s ire. Wray resigned shortly before the president’s second term, after Trump made it clear Wray would be ousted one way or another.

The FBI is now helmed by Kash Patel, a former Pentagon official in  Trump’s first term, after which he became a right-wing pundit.
