Rupert Murdoch Pushing for Youngkin to Be Trump’s VP, While Other Corporate Titans Are Freaking About JD Vance and Vivek: CNBC

Rupert Murdoch has a personal favorite for former President Donald Trump’s vice presidential selection — while other corporate titans are spooked by several of Trump’s potential picks.

According to CNBC, the 93-year-old media titan wants Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) to fill out the presidential ticket this fall.

“Rupert Murdoch has hinted to several friends who move in Trump’s social circles that he would be happy with a Republican ticket that included Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, according to sources familiar with the matter,” CNBC’s Brian Schwartz reported.

The key takeaway from the CNBC report is that influential corporate leaders and wealthy donors want a say in Trump’s no. 2, and most of them want Trump to avoid a number of the wild cards that have been floated. Among the names who have support from Trump’s well-heeled backers; Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Sens. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Tim Scott (R-SC), and Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND).

Many of Trump’s corporate backers, though, reportedly don’t like the idea of Sen. J.D. Vance or Vivek Ramaswamy as Trump’s running mate. In particular, according to the CNBC report, Vance’s support for higher tariffs does not sit well with the business leaders in Trump’s camp.

And neither does Ramaswamy — whose selection could potentially result in big donors pulling their support for Trump.

Of Vivek, one GOP lobbyist close to top party officials told CNBC, “Good Lord, if it’s him, I’m out.”
