Social media and fitness influencer Brian Johnson, known as “Liver King,” was arrested on Tuesday evening by the Austin Police Department after posting a string of peculiar, threatening videos online. In one of the videos, Johnson challenged podcaster Joe Rogan to a fight in Austin, Texas where Rogan lives.
The Austin Police Department confirmed that Johnson made threats against Rogan on his Instagram account “liverking,” which has some 2.9 million followers. Johnson currently faces a Class B misdemeanor charge of making a terroristic threat.
Johnson gained millions of followers by promoting his barbarian-like diet, which includes eating the organ he’s named after, and posting his unique and strenuous workouts online.
In an Instagram video posted on June 23, Johnson said, “Joe Rogan, I’m calling you out, my name’s Liver King. Man to man, I’m picking a fight with you. I have no training in Jiu-jitsu; you’re a black belt, you should dismantle me. But I’m picking a fight with you. Your rules, I’ll come to you, whenever you’re ready.”
The Austin Police Department told local outlet KXAN that “detectives contacted Mr. Rogan, who stated he had never had any interaction with Johnson and considered the posts to be threatening.”
The police department said this is an ongoing investigation.
