Sylvester Stallone mourned the death of his fellow “Rocky” movie co-star Carl Weathers in an emotional tribute posted to social media.

Weathers, who had various high profile roles throughout the 1980s and 1990s including as Apollo Creed in the “Rocky” movie series, died “peacefully in his sleep” earlier this week at 76, according to his family.

For days, former castmates and fans shared tributes to the actor, honoring his work as an actor and a close friend. Stallone took to Instagram on Friday to pay tribute to his late friend, noting the world “lost a legend.”

“We lost a legend yesterday. My life was forever changed for the better the day I met Carl Weathers. Rest in power and keeping punching,” said the award-winning actor in a tear-jerking video.

Behind Stallone in the video was a painting depicting his character Rocky fighting Creed in the “Rocky” movie series.

“Carl Weathers was such an integral part of my life, my success, everything about it. I give him incredible credit and kudos because when he walked into that room, and I saw him for the first time, I saw greatness, but I didn’t realize how great,” he added.

Stallone continued, “I never could have accomplished what we did with ‘Rocky’ without him. He was absolutely brilliant. His voice, his size, his power, his athletic ability, but more importantly, his heart, his soul. It’s a horrible loss.”

Near the end of the video, Stallone appeared to nearly burst into tears as closed off the tribute by saying, “He was magic. And I was so fortunate to be part of his life. So Apollo, keep punching,”
