Trump Admin Deletes Cooling Advice After Right Goes Scorched On Mamdani For Same Info

The U.S. Department of Energy apparently deleted its longstanding guidance that homeowners keep their air conditioning set to 78 degrees, after critics slammed New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) for giving the exact same advice during the current heat wave.
DC local Fox affiliate news anchor Jim Lokay noted the deletion on Blue Sky Thursday afternoon and included screenshots.
The department then appeared to delete multiple web pages on air conditioning, heating and cooling, and home cooling, Mediaite found Thursday.
The deletions came after Mamdani urged New Yorkers to conserve energy Wednesday amid a heat wave.
“New York: it’s hot out there, and the power grid is working overtime to keep us cool,” Mamdani posted to X on Wednesday. “Set your AC to 78 degrees, turn off lights/electronics you’re not using, and unplug what you can.”
He added: “Our City is doing its part too: maintaining the 78 degrees rule in our buildings, dimming/turning off our lights during peak electricity demand, asking private partners to do the same, and powering down non-essential equipment.”
Republican critics came out of the woodwork to roast Mamdani, likening the energy advice to “communism.”
Barstool boss Dave Portnoy, who said earlier this week that he may challenge Mamdani for mayor, led that charge, saying, “Welcome to communism people! Hope you enjoy!”
In an X transmission from the “Deep South,” former congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, called Mamdani’s advice “the worst campaign ad for the Democrats,” adding, “Set your air to 78 degrees? Bless your heart New York City!! American energy should be so strong and plentiful that you never have to set it above 70 if you don’t feel like it. And this comes from the Deep South in Georgia!!”
This is the worst campaign ad for the Democrats.
Set your air to 78 degrees?
Bless your hearts New York City!!
American energy should be so strong and plentiful that you never have to set it above 70 if you don’t feel like it.
And this comes from the Deep South in Georgia!!
Mamdani’s advice is nothing new, others pointed out as well, noting previous New York City mayors, including Eric Adam and Bill de Blasio, also shared the same guidance when they were in office.
The Department of Energy did not immediately respond to Mediaite’s request for comment.
