Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has more than doubled his Black support in Wisconsin according to a bombshell finding in an NBC News exit poll.

In a post on X, NBC’s Dasha Burns reported that “This year Trump is pulling about 20% of the Black vote, versus 78% for Harris. Four years ago, Trump won only about 8% of Black voters in the Badger State.”

Trump potential gains among minority voters, especially Blacks and Latinos, were one of the major storylines going into election night.

CNN’s Harry Enten has called Trump’s strength among Black voters “historic,” arguing that “we’re careening towards a historic performance for Republican presidential candidate, the likes of which we have not seen in six decades” earlier this year.

“If this polling is anywhere near correct, we are looking at a historic moment right now where black voters under the age of 50, which have historically been such a big part of the Democratic coalition, are leaving in droves,” said Enten at the time.

The same exit poll estimates that a slightly bigger chunk of the electorate in Wisconsin this year is comprised of men (52%) than women (48%). Trump is expected to do better among male voters this year while Democratic nominee Kamala Harris is expected to clean up with female voters.
