President Donald Trump has launched an investigation into former President Joe Biden’s time in office, accusing his administration of orchestrating a cover-up of Biden’s “serious cognitive decline” and raising questions over who was truly in control at the White House.
The Trump administration’s directive, issued via memorandum late Wednesday, mandates a sweeping review of all executive actions taken during Biden’s final years in power.
At the center of the probe is the claim that Biden’s aides may have “conspired to deceive the public” using autopen without the president’s knowledge to issue pardons, sign laws, and enact executive orders.
“In recent months, it has become increasingly apparent that former President Biden’s aides abused the power of Presidential signature through the use of an autopen,” the memo reads. “This conspiracy marks one of the most dangerous and concerning scandals in American history.”
White House Counsel David Warrington will lead the inquiry, with input from Attorney General Pam Bondi. House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer has opened a parallel inquiry.
Trump declared on Truth Social early Wednesday: “THE AUTOPEN IS THE BIGGEST POLITICAL SCANDAL IN AMERICAN HISTORY!!!”
