Trump Tells Generals He Doesn’t Want Nobel Peace Prize — But It ‘Would Be a Big Insult’ if He Doesn’t Get It
President Donald Trump insisted to a group of the military’s top brass that he does not want the Nobel Peace Prize on Tuesday, before observing that it would be a “big insult” if he didn’t get it.
Trump joined Secretary of War Pete Hegseth on Tuesday in Quantico, Virginia to address military generals. Hegseth said during his remarks that there will be an across-the-board review of military standards. He blasted “woke garbage” in the military and vowed that standards would only be based on “merit” going forward.
Trump ran through a large variety of topics during his talk, at one point expressing frustration at the potential of him not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize — while also insisting he doesn’t desire the prize.
The president echoed recent declarations he’s made about solving multiple worldwide crises between various countries, like Armenia and Azerbaijan. He also insisted peace deals will happen between Israel and Hamas, as well as Russia and Ukraine. Trump recently unveiled his 20-point peace plan for Gaza.
“Will you get the Nobel prize? Absolutely not. They’ll give it to some guy that didn’t do a damn thing. They’ll give it to a guy that wrote a book about the mind of Donald Trump and what it took to solve the wars,” the president said on Tuesday.
He continued:
The Nobel prize will go to a writer. We’ll see what happens, but it would be a big insult to our country. I will tell you I don’t want it, I want the country to get it. It should get it because there’s never been anything like it. Think of it. If this happens — I think it will, I don’t say that lightly — I know more about deals than anybody. This can change. We have just about everybody. We have one signature that we need and that’s signature will pay in hell if they don’t sign. I hope they sign for their own good and we create something really great. But to have done eight of them is just like such an honor. Then we have Putin and Zelensky. The easiest one of them all, I said. That one will get done. I thought it would be first. Some of them are much harder.
