Tucker Carlson Reacts to Iranian Attack on U.S. Base by Putting on Infomercial for Qatar: ‘They’re Doing It to Be Nice!’
Former Fox News star Tucker Carlson began to rave about the Persian Gulf state of Qatar just moments after hearing that the Iranian government had fired ballistic missiles at the United States’ Al Udeid Air Base on Monday.
In a preview of a forthcoming episode of his show released on X, Carlson reacted live to the attack.
“We have some breaking news. Ugh!” exclaimed Carlson while clutching his chest, causing his guest, Clayton Morris, to ask, “What now?”
“Ugh, this is just sad on every level. This is The Telegraph. Look, I don’t know if this is true or not. ‘Explosions have been heard over Doha, Qatar after Iran launched a missile attack on the U.S. base there. Western officials told Axios that Iran had fired six missiles toward at least one U.S. base in that Gulf country.'”
“That base exists to protect Israel, by the way. I know we’re constantly-, Bari Weiss is constantly attacking Qatar. Qatar has done more to defend Israel– But anyway, hosting this base, which they don’t need,at all. It’s the richest country in the world. They don’t need to do it. They’re doing it to be nice, but anyway, sorry. It’s just this is so distressing,” continued Carlson, before Morris impatiently asked, “Have Americans been killed?”
“Officials said earlier that the base located just outside Doha was facing a credible threat. Trump officials are convening in D.C.. The base is home to CENTCOM’s HQ. British military personnel also serve there on rotation. Many planes have been moved out recently, satellite imagery shows. So that’s all we know. It’s so distressing. It’s so distr…” Tucker replied as Morris asked facetiously, “Who could have seen this coming? Who could have seen it coming?”
“Well, I’ll just say, I just wanna say it, it should go without saying, but I mean, I’m praying for the success of, you know, whatever America does, cause I’m praying for America. But I’m concerned, and I hope that people who have audiences will be responsible and just remember like life is short. You know, you’re gonna have to give an account, like try to be honest, try to be humane, try to care about other people. I don’t know. So that’s my view.”
All of the Iranian missiles — save for an errant one — fired at the largely evacuated base were intercepted. Axios’s Barak Ravid reported on Monday afternoon that “the Iranians coordinated this attack with the Qataris, and with the knowledge of the Trump administration.”
