View Host Dares Christians ‘Not to Feel Brokenhearted’ at Children Begging ICE to Leave Their Parents
The View’s Ana Navarro encouraged “Christian Americans” to tap into their humanity when it comes to ICE agents separating families instead of solely targeting dangerous criminals.
The co-hosts discussed Donald Trump’s oft repeated campaign promise to stop the “Hannibal Lecters” being sent to the U.S. from dangerous prisons, insane asylums, and mental institutions.
“He did say criminals, and he could hit a certain number — I remember [Tom] Homan saying he could hit these millions but people were saying, ‘There aren’t that many criminals.’ I.C.E. has always gone after criminals first,” said co-host Sara Haines.
“It’s harder to target criminals and go through due process,” Alyssa Farah Griffin added.
Joy Behar used Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) as an example that MAGA is turning on Trump “a little bit, certainly on Epstein and healthcare.”
Behar asked, “Do you think this is a tipping point that people on his team are turning?”
“We always say it’s hard to hate up close,” Ana Navarro began, continuing:
So, I think the theoretical idea of undocumented immigrants is one thing, but when you realize that it’s the woman you know, it’s the woman who’s been serving you waffles in Wisconsin for decades, the woman who’s been doing your nails in the Hamptons for decades…the kid who plays with your kid at school — when you put names and faces, when you see those little children on their knees praying and begging the I.C.E. agents not to take away their parents, I dare any Christian American not to feel brokenhearted.
Navarro’s assertion drew applause from the audience.
“But I don’t even think it’s meeting the humanity,” Haines said. “I think there were so many Americans that agreed this is a broken system. And what he said, I don’t believe he ran on what he’s doing. He absolutely said, ‘I will deport the worst among us. There will be criminals.’ I don’t think everyone needed to see the person next to them to think that person wasn’t at risk. This is just not what he said.”
