Viral Posts Falsely Claim Trump Has Started Wearing Ear Bandage Again — Here’s Why

Critics of former President Donald Trump posted screenshots that went viral which they falsely claimed show Trump has resumed wearing a bandage on his ear — but those critics weren’t necessarily lying.

Trump was injured in a shooting on July 13 — an assassination attempt that left Trump bloodied and Trump supporter/former firefighter Corey Comperatore dead as he shielded his family.

The attempt — and Trump’s bandaged ear — became the subjects of ubiquitous symbology at the Republican National Convention and wild conspiracy theories among his allies, while conspiratorial skepticism about the injury and the attempt ran rampant among anti-Trumpers.

Over the weekend, several posts on X/Twitter went viral with the claim that a Fox News appearance shows Trump started wearing the bandage again, perhaps as a way to garner sympathy.

The posts racked up millions of views and tens of thousands of likes and re-posts.

Those screenshots were, indeed, from this weekend — from Monday’s Labor Day edition of . At the top of the show, Watters offered his recap of the past several months and introduced his July joint interview with Trump and Sen. JD Vance (R-OH).

However, while the context clues were numerous, Watters never explicitly disclaimed the interview as a re-airing, and there were no onscreen graphics indicating the date of the interview:

This election’s turned the last few months, into one of the most wild summers in memory. One guy gets shot, another drops out. Harris hops in. Her new V.P. honeymooned in China. I can’t keep up.

Now it’s a mad dash to Election Day. And with two months left, every move is monumental. The Trump Vance ticket’s gone heavy on policy versus Kamala’s copy and paste campaign.

We sat down with Trump and Vance getting an inside look at their day one agenda. Watch.
